    So much fun, especially for HP fans!
    I played this combined with the HP expansion set, but this is, of course, a complete game on its own. My wife and I enjoyed playing!Positive attributes:-Great two player game!!! I am constantly looking for games that I can play with my wife, and two player games are really hit or miss. With the base game, you can play with 4 people, but this is really fun with two. We each had three characters to control since we played with the expansion, so we were loaded down with a lot of choices for strategy, which is great.-SO MANY BITS! This game is awesome for all the little high quality pieces. The player pieces, of course, are awesome. But the point markers, player cards, scenario cards, items, dice, and everything else are so great! Getting a point is such a tactile moment because you pick up a blue crystal to add to your pile. And moving the big head pieces around is really fun.-The potential for mixing and matching characters and games is really exciting. I'm imaging playing a game where Bellatrix is partnered with Blanche from the Golden Girls, and it makes me laugh.-The game board is great- awesome artwork, interesting set up, and you get two options as the board is reversible.-Mechanics and game play are easy, but fun. The first few moves as you spread out your pieces on the board are pretty straightforward, but they get more complex. And the individual powers make decisions interesting."Not so positive, but still not a problem" attribute:The scenarios and some of the goals could be a bit more thematic. One scenario is basically "capture the flag" with a side of retrieving points on the board marked A-D. I understand that some of the themes are probably generic because they will be making an infinite number of versions for different fandoms, but it would have been awesome if a bit more effort was put into theming these scenarios. There's a little vague blurb at the top of each scenario that tries to sell it, but I would have liked to be trying to steal or protect actual thematic items (like horcruxes) instead of tokens with A-D printed on them. But, once again, the A-D point pieces are used in many of the scenarios, so assigning them as an actual thematic item might limit their use, or complicate their use over multiple scenarios. All that said, I felt like the HP kids and villains were playing capture the flag instead of battling it out over something thematic.This game will surely please fans of strategy games, and buying a version from their fandom heightens the enjoyment a great deal! My wife and I really like Harry Potter, and it was fun to add commentary and imagination as the characters face off or chase after each other.

    Our family was provided an Amazon gift card in the mail from FunkoVerse games to purchase any of the new FunkoVerse strategy games or the related expansions. This was one of the sets that we chose to purchase with the gift card.

    The set is well made, The map is fairly large and made of a sturdy game board material. The characters are representative of the Funko style with the oversized heads and comically round eyes and are fun to move around the map. The pieces are well designed and scale well with the board and characters. I ended up ditching the plastic insert that housed the pieces in the sealed box. I am not sure if it was intended for use after unpackaging but we opted not to use it. I liked that several ziplock bags of different sizes were included to organize the pieces for storage.

    The gameplay is fairly complex but is well structured (rounds, turns, phases) and after some practice there is a consistent rhythm that keeps the game moving. The instructions are clear although as with all games it is easier to learn by playing a few times. There are also YouTube videos which we did not view. There is an abbreviated tutorial in the instructions to get started. We found this to be very helpful and then added in the more complicated components once we were comfortable with the basics. There are illustrated explanations of the basics maneuvres (visibility, moving around obstacles, attacking etc.) which are necessary as there are subtleties to most aspects of the game.

    We have played several of the provided scenarios on both sides of the double sided map. The different layouts (the more open Room of Requiremnt vs. the shops and streets of Diagon Alley) definitely lend themselves to different strategies which keeps the game dynamic and fun. The turn based rounds are balanced and well thought out. The most enjoyable part of the game is to conceive a plan against your opponent and then try to execute the scheme, much like Harry and team in the books. You will need solid tactics and a little luck to succeed. My favorite aspect of the game is it's ability to expand. We have also played with the expansion set that includes Ron and Malfoy and that added new elements to the game. But even more than that, with a little creativity and effort, it would be very possible to expand on the base set to create your own campaigns, maps, characters and items for a limitless number of scenarios.

    I had seen this product in a store, but ended up ordering it here. I'm a Harry Potter fan, though this is my first experience with Funko. We have begun having family game night every Sunday and we're looking for games our kids can play with us that aren't just basic games. We have a 7 yo and a 5 yo. The game took a little for the 7 yo to get into, and the 5 yo definitely cannot play on his own, but, since this game can be played in teams, it works!

    I think that we got the hang of this game the second time we played. If we had just been playing with adults, I think we would have had it in no time, but everything is more complicated with children. That being said, we did enjoy it and will like having it in our growing game collection. This game would be fun with kids, or just adults. It begins to be more interesting as you get more strategic.

    The figures are super cute and very detailed. I have had no previous experience with Funko, so I was really surprised by how well these are made and the detail. It is really neat that their hands are able to hold the items them come with the game (Felix Felicis and a dagger). I'm thinking that we may by the Harry Potter expansion pack that has Ron and Malfoy to go with this!

    So I got this game for my son (he is 9) based on the great reviews. He collects Funko Pop figures and loves games so I thought it would be a win-win. As a mom of 4 kids, we play lots of board games and own a big closet full. We love fun games but this game was just...ok. The best part about it is the fun game pieces for my son. The game itself was, I’m sorry, not as fun as the reviews led me to believe. It was a little complicated for my son to figure out so we tried to watch YouTube videos to learn how to play. Even the YouTube videos were confusing to him. We kind of fumbled through and played it a few times and then he got tired of it. He liked it well enough because of the pop figures, but maybe I just didn’t get it. I kept thinking it would be more fun. So don’t believe all of the rave reviews that say it’s amazingly great fun. It’s just ok. And the figures will be good to put in his pop figure collection. Maybe it’s for older kids like 11 or 12?

    I bought this for $12.99 and I feel like it was a good buy.

    The rulebook is arranged well. It shows and labels all the parts. It has a section for your first game which has a very simple goal to help get your feet wet. Then the full rules follow for subsequent games. So I think this would be very helpful for families who have not played other board games besides Monopoly or Uno.

    The components are OK. I personally have been avoiding this game because I don’t want to store toys and the box cover is see-through. There is an insert that is adequate for holding the figures. Bellatrix’s wand was a little bent and it seemed like Harry Potter was having difficulty holding the Liquid Luck. So I guess if your kids play with Funko they’ll have fun with the pieces, but the dagger and bottle might get loss if played outside of the game. They aren’t necessary for game play. The small cards representing the Items are.

    The point tokens are cool. The board is fine. Cards are fine.

    What I don’t like about the game is figuring out “line of sight”. Ugh. I wish the game came with a ruler or wand. Some details in the rules are also annoying but the rulebook is comprehensive with examples.

    Also the game says, “your collection” and friends’ “collections”, which is marketing so you buy more sets. So yes my initial buy-in is low, but this game is a trap for collectors and completionists. So avoid this game if you have concerns about collecting and/or want to avoid collecting. The game is playable as is. But you’re going to want to add more sets to get more items and boards.

    Reviewed in Italy on March 30, 2020

    Il manuale è ben fatto, e si trova anche online in .pdf, ma è completamente in inglese, quindi serve un minimo di dimestichezza con la lingua per capirlo. Bastano però pochi minuti per leggere le prime pagine ed iniziare a giocare. Una volta capito un po’ le regole principali si può, infatti, iniziare subito a giocare senza usare le carte scenario, che aumentano un po’ la complessità del gioco. Se utilizzando gli scenari ci sono infatti vari modi per acquisire punti, senza gli scenari basta mandare K.O. i personaggi dell’avversario per vincere, senza dover acquisire punti. Il gioco è un gioco di strategia, ben congegnato, con regole non troppo difficili ma in buon numero, di modo che bisogna far funzionare il cervello per vincere. I giocatori possono essere da 2 a 4, e se si gioca in due si possono usare da 1 a 3 personaggi (4 se si ha anche l’espansione).
    Devo dire che per me, che ancora non ricordo bene a memoria tutte le regole, giocando in 2 con 3 personaggi a testa e senza scenari una partita dura 20-25min.
    Per mettere K.O un personaggio avversario bisogna sconfiggerlo a duello per 2 volte consecutive, il che non è così scontato, in quanto i personaggi hanno delle abilità per cui possono far “rinsavire” gli alleati. Se si gioca con 3 personaggi, il giocatore che inizia parte facendo svolgere due azioni ad un personaggio (es.: auror). Muovere un personaggio di 2 spazi, ad esempio, equivale a compiere un’azione, sfidare a duello un personaggio avversario vale un’altra azione. Ogni personaggio deve svolgere due azioni consecutivamente, oppure il giocatore può deliberatamente scegliere di fargliene fare solo una o nemmeno una, in ogni caso quando termina il turno di un personaggio devo mettere sulla sua carta un segnalino “esausto”. Dopodiché il turno passa al personaggio avversario (es.: Bellatrix) che svolge le sue azioni fino a diventare esausto, così il turno passa ad un personaggio dell’altra squadra (es.: Hermione) e così via, fino a che tutti i personaggi non sono esausti. A questo punto si cambia round e l’altro giocatore inizia il suo turno, scegliendo un nuovo ordine con cui usare i suoi personaggi, non è obbligatorio usare sempre lo stesso ordine. Sulle istruzioni sono spiegate molto bene tutte le regole di “adiacenza” e su come effettuare le “sfide”.
    Com’è successo a me, possono suscitarvi qualche dubbio le abilità speciali (incantesimi) dei personaggi principali. Ad esempio, la carta di Bellatrix permette al personaggio di scagliare l’incantesimo Confundo, per il quale bisogna usare un segnalino azione grigio che va posto sulla “cooldown track” in posizione 3 (di round in round scenderà di una posizione, fino a tornare nella mano del giocatore che potrà riutilizzarlo per sferrare un incantesimo) e che comporta, come indicato dalla stella a 8 punte posta di fianco al nome dell’incantesimo, un duello. Il duello è range 4 (vale a dire che Bellatrix può colpire un bersaglio che si trova al massimo 4 caselle più in là) e challenge 2 (vale a dire che l’attaccante lancia 2 dadi). A questo punto, se l’attaccante vince il duello, verrà posta sul bersaglio la tesserina di Confundo, per cui al prossimo turno in cui il bersaglio sceglierà di usare un incantesimo, il costo di questo incantesimo sarà maggiorato di uno, vale a dire che il segnalino azione per quell’incantesimo verrà posto sulla cooldown track di una posizione più in alto. L’incantesimo Confundo di Bellatrix non porta il bersaglio ad essere knocked-down. Un altro effetto che potrebbe essere poco chiaro è quello dell’incantesimo Oppungo di Voldemort, che permette ad un alleato che è visibile da Voldemort entro 4 caselle di svolgere un’azione base. In questo caso è importante sapere che l’alleato può svolgere questa azione anche se è già esausto. Non voglio tediarvi più di così con le regole, vi ho solo illustrato qualcosa che a me appariva dubbioso alla sola lettura delle istruzioni. Per qualsiasi altro chiarimento, chiedetemi pure. Tornando a descrivere un po’ il gioco, devo dire che le pedine in 3D sono bellissime, ma forse un po’ troppo grandi per le caselle del tabellone. Altra considerazione che faccio, ma che forse avrete già intuito, è che le istruzioni sono ben fatte ma non proprio esaustive.

    PRO: Giocabilità, materiali, particolari;

    CONTRO: Istruzioni non completamente esaustive; pedine troppo grandi;

    CONCLUSIONI: Bellissimo! Lo consiglio, è sia un pezzo da collezione sia un bel gioco da tavolo.

    CONTENUTO DELLA CONFEZIONE: La grafica impressa sulla confezione è veramente accattivante e ben congeniata, attrae subito lo sguardo e rende visibili le quattro grandi pedine (un po’ più piccole delle tipiche figure POP Funko alle quali siamo abituati) dei personaggi principali del gioco: Harry, Hermione, Voldemort e Bellatrix (ad oggi esiste un’espansione del gioco, che contiene due ulteriori mappe, nuovi scenari e le pedine di Ron e Draco). Aprendo la scatola (ben 4 sigilli adesivi la tengono perfettamente chiusa) troviamo, oltre ai quattro personaggi già citati, tre bustine trasparenti contenenti le basi da mettere ai piedi dei personaggi (2 nere e 2 bianche), 6 dadi a 6 facce che recano impressi 3 simboli utili durante le sfide, 21 “pepite” di plastica azzurra a rappresentare i punti accumulabili durante il gioco, 8 “segnalini azione” di 3 diversi colori, utili per far svolgere ai personaggi incantesimi particolari, 6 “segnalini esausto”, 1 “moneta” di carta tipo testa-o-croce da lanciare per scegliere chi inizia il gioco, 2 pedine rotonde dei “personaggi base”, vale a dire un mangiamorte ed un auror, 4 “segnalini punto” contrassegnati con le lettere dalla A alla D utili in certi scenari, 3 segnalini controllo caratterizzati da quadrati azzurri che servono in determinati scenari, 2 pedine con una stella e una bandierina, anch’esse utili per acquisire punti in determinati scenari, infine troviamo 2 oggetti (una pozione felix felicis ed una daga) che danno dei poteri in più a chi li porta in mano. Tutto quanto elencato sinora si trova dentro ad una custodia grigia a scomparti che sembra rappresentare una porzione di uno dei maestosi muri di Hogwarts. Sollevando questa custodia, troviamo la mappa ripiegabile raffigurante un ambiente su ognuno dei due lati, vale a dire la Stanza delle Necessità e Diagon Alley. Poi in una busta trasparente troviamo due “cooldown track” (difficile da tradurre in italiano), una per ogni giocatore, 6 carte personaggio, 4 carte relative a due azioni specifiche (per Bellatrix e Harry), 2 carte oggetto per i 2 oggetti speciali già menzionati e 2 carte scenario, stampate in fronte-retro, per un totale di 4 scenari. Infine, ultimo ma non per importanza, il manuale di istruzioni, ben nutrito e completamente in inglese.

    DESCRIZIONE: Primo suggerimento: i personaggi sono imprigionati all’interno delle loro nicchie nella custodia a scomparti, quasi fossero ad Azkaban, vi sconsiglio di cercare di estrarli frontalmente, bensì provate a spingerli da dietro, imprimendo un po’ di forza sul contenitore in plastica grigia, risulterà più semplice e non correrete il rischio di danneggiarli.
    A mio avviso, i materiali con cui sono costruite tutte le parti del gioco sono veramente ottimi, ed il tutto è anche molto pregevole agli occhi. Ho ricevuto il gioco da poco, quindi non ho ancora avuto modo di provare tutti gli scenari, e in questa occasione non mi dilungherò nel tradurre il manuale, piuttosto vi darò qualche consiglio su regole che a me sembravano poco chiare e sulle quali ho avuto delucidazioni grazie alla community internazionale di persone appassionate ai giochi da tavolo.
    Il manuale è ben fatto, e si trova anche online in .pdf, ma è completamente in inglese, quindi serve un minimo di dimestichezza con la lingua per capirlo. Bastano però pochi minuti per leggere le prime pagine ed iniziare a giocare. Una volta capito un po’ le regole principali si può, infatti, iniziare subito a giocare senza usare le carte scenario, che aumentano un po’ la complessità del gioco. Se utilizzando gli scenari ci sono infatti vari modi per acquisire punti, senza gli scenari basta mandare K.O. i personaggi dell’avversario per vincere, senza dover acquisire punti. Il gioco è un gioco di strategia, ben congegnato, con regole non troppo difficili ma in buon numero, di modo che bisogna far funzionare il cervello per vincere. I giocatori possono essere da 2 a 4, e se si gioca in due si possono usare da 1 a 3 personaggi (4 se si ha anche l’espansione).
    Devo dire che per me, che ancora non ricordo bene a memoria tutte le regole, giocando in 2 con 3 personaggi a testa e senza scenari una partita dura 20-25min.
    Per mettere K.O un personaggio avversario bisogna sconfiggerlo a duello per 2 volte consecutive, il che non è così scontato, in quanto i personaggi hanno delle abilità per cui possono far “rinsavire” gli alleati. Se si gioca con 3 personaggi, il giocatore che inizia parte facendo svolgere due azioni ad un personaggio (es.: auror). Muovere un personaggio di 2 spazi, ad esempio, equivale a compiere un’azione, sfidare a duello un personaggio avversario vale un’altra azione. Ogni personaggio deve svolgere due azioni consecutivamente, oppure il giocatore può deliberatamente scegliere di fargliene fare solo una o nemmeno una, in ogni caso quando termina il turno di un personaggio devo mettere sulla sua carta un segnalino “esausto”. Dopodiché il turno passa al personaggio avversario (es.: Bellatrix) che svolge le sue azioni fino a diventare esausto, così il turno passa ad un personaggio dell’altra squadra (es.: Hermione) e così via, fino a che tutti i personaggi non sono esausti. A questo punto si cambia round e l’altro giocatore inizia il suo turno, scegliendo un nuovo ordine con cui usare i suoi personaggi, non è obbligatorio usare sempre lo stesso ordine. Sulle istruzioni sono spiegate molto bene tutte le regole di “adiacenza” e su come effettuare le “sfide”.
    Com’è successo a me, possono suscitarvi qualche dubbio le abilità speciali (incantesimi) dei personaggi principali. Ad esempio, la carta di Bellatrix permette al personaggio di scagliare l’incantesimo Confundo, per il quale bisogna usare un segnalino azione grigio che va posto sulla “cooldown track” in posizione 3 (di round in round scenderà di una posizione, fino a tornare nella mano del giocatore che potrà riutilizzarlo per sferrare un incantesimo) e che comporta, come indicato dalla stella a 8 punte posta di fianco al nome dell’incantesimo, un duello. Il duello è range 4 (vale a dire che Bellatrix può colpire un bersaglio che si trova al massimo 4 caselle più in là) e challenge 2 (vale a dire che l’attaccante lancia 2 dadi). A questo punto, se l’attaccante vince il duello, verrà posta sul bersaglio la tesserina di Confundo, per cui al prossimo turno in cui il bersaglio sceglierà di usare un incantesimo, il costo di questo incantesimo sarà maggiorato di uno, vale a dire che il segnalino azione per quell’incantesimo verrà posto sulla cooldown track di una posizione più in alto. L’incantesimo Confundo di Bellatrix non porta il bersaglio ad essere knocked-down. Un altro effetto che potrebbe essere poco chiaro è quello dell’incantesimo Oppungo di Voldemort, che permette ad un alleato che è visibile da Voldemort entro 4 caselle di svolgere un’azione base. In questo caso è importante sapere che l’alleato può svolgere questa azione anche se è già esausto. Non voglio tediarvi più di così con le regole, vi ho solo illustrato qualcosa che a me appariva dubbioso alla sola lettura delle istruzioni. Per qualsiasi altro chiarimento, chiedetemi pure. Great fun game so far have only played one game but there is not just one way of playing it's nice to see that there is a double sided board and each side has 2 different game modes like capture the flag and capture the point the characters themselves are great if your a pop vinyl fan you will love it or a Harry Potter fan I would definitely recommend buying this because it can be expanded by purchasing the expansion pack and they will probably end up bringing more out also it's worth noting that instead of reading through the rules you can watch how to play we didn't notice this till after reading the rules but it was still a very fun game.
