In last month I have purchased a 6000DX and a 4000DX model of these Battle III reels.... they are amazing, super smooth retrieve, good line capacity for braid or mono... Ibvb use them for everything from surf, wade, shore, and kayak fishing... Got the DX versions for the better quality gear metal... would definitely reccomend these reels to anyone looking for an awesome reel at a great price, best part is if you get the 6000 or under, the DX model is same price as the regular black and gold style

I've got this reel specifically for casting bigger baits for large pike; it seems to be the ideal as it is plenty strong but still relatively light and castable.

Rugged and Smooth

My Penn 10000 is a smooth casting and retrieving reel . It is my most powerful reel with fourty pound drag I will never out grow it in my living area.

A good move up

For the last 27 years I have guided fishing trips in both fresh and salt water and I need products that last when using them every day. Penn has always made a good reel but this new Battle 111 in the 4000 size I use is fantastic. The reel is very smooth and you will notice that right away but little things like the new deep v line roller that keeps the line securely in place and the smooth drag and the braid ready spool are things I appreciate. Salt water is tough on a reel and Penn has that covered with these reels . I just wash them off each day with the hose and they are good to go the next day.

I ended up ordering 2 reels. The items arrived ahead of time. 1 box was in good condition, 2 box was all dented. It appears that it ic urged during shipping and not the retailers fault. The reels are in great condition and are amazing. I will definitely recommend the item and seller.

Penn reels

Fishing Reel Spinner

Recently got a Battle 3 in the 2500 and the 3000.  Love the reels the drag is the best in class.   The quality control on the finish of the reels is to be desired.  Both reels had imperfections in the black finish allowing  the white paint to show.   The 2500 had specks of the black finish missing, while the 3000 had large section of finish missing on the bail arm and specks missing on the body.  For the price of these reels one expects better quality control.
