I came across the Kamado Joe brand while researching Grill/Smokers. I have primarily used propane grills for my grilled foods for close to 40 years. I tried an electric smoker for a short time. I wasn't impressed with that. I thought that I would end up with a pellet smoker/grill… it seemed like that was the way to go. My son-in-law has one and it seemed to produce some nice smoked meats. The main reason I went with Kamado Joe was that during my research I learned that pellets could become clumped in humid climates. Being that I live in FL, humidity is a huge factor. I also didn't like the idea of having to plug in a pellet grill and that most cannot sear. I started watching YouTubes on Kamado grills and these grills really intrigued me. The last charcoal style grill I had used was a small Habachi grill,  40 something years ago. Let me tell you, cooking with lump charcoal is the ticket, especially with Kamado Joe. Easy to bring up to temperature and the temperatures hold! I bought my Kamado Joe directly from the website and it came to my house packed extremely well. It was easy to assemble (you'll need another person for the lift up). I chose the Series I simply because of the price. I would have loved to have the newer style lid and hinge system but so far this grill/ smoker is working great! I've smoked 4 racks of ribs, seared and cooked ribeyes and smoked chicken. They all came out great! My next challenge will be a brisket. If you're on the fence about these grills… go for it. There's tons of videos with tips and recipes for this style of grilling/smoking. Does it take a little extra time to prepare your meals? Absolutely. But the quality of the cook will totally impress your loved ones and friends.

This grill is the best!! My husband and I have the larger version but with it only being the 2 of us, we purchased this grill and it was easier to set up, grill and clean out! It comes with a better version of instructions too!

Best little Grill

Ive owned a large Big Green Egg for over 20 years. The quality is excellent and I love grilling/smoking on it. But cooking for me and my wife the large egg is sometimes overkill. Firing it up for a couple steaks or pork chops seems extreme. Id been looking at the Mini Max but couldnt justify the price. I started looking at the Joe Jr, its the same size as the Mini Max, at a more budget friendly price. It was delivered to my home packaged very well! I unpacked it and set it up on my deck. The quality is every bit as good at BGE it also includes standard the heat deflector, ash tool and grill gripper  which are options on the BGE. I fired it up and did a reverse sear on a Tri Tip roast. It held 250° easily for the smoking period. I removed the roast, took out the deflector, opened the top and bottom vents fully. The temp quickly rose to over 600° for searing. The Tri tip turned out perfectly! Im very pleased with this grill/smoker and would recommend it to anyone!

Great small grill/smoker!

Very efficient use of lump charcoal, cooks everything perfectly. Great companion to full size Kamado Joe. Built a moveable stand to be able to move it easily.

Perfect size for two people!

Delivered with multiple dents in the packaging despite fragile labels on the outside.  Inside, the fire ring was found broken in multiple pieces.  My only option to resolve this is to return the item, which is a huge hassle given the weight.  I don't want to return it as Istill want the grill, i just want it delivered intact like i paid for.  There is no option for partial reimbursement so i can order a replacement part.  I decided to spend another $50 and have a replacement part shipped from the kamado joe website.  If pricing is similar between walmart and another store/website i would definitely go with the other website, especially if it has a better customer service policy.

Delivered broken

After waiting a week for this to deliver, I received a broken item probably because the Fedex delivery guy dropped it so hard on the ground. Just unbelievable service. Very disappointed. All of my time wasted.

Be very careful with shipping. Can't comment on its use as we just received.  Driver dropped the grill on the street with box opened.  Brought to door with chips.  Never spoke and not apologetic.  Driver had to make 3 more trips to truck to get the rest of the items, styrofoam and box as we insisted.  Very very disappointed as this was early gift for hubby.  Need to get top replaced or paint and chip repair sent.  Given our age and it's weight, tough for us to return which is why we ordered online.  Very very disappointed.

Terrible shipment and delivery

Kabroken Joe. Product came damaged. Walmart would not support an exchange and told me to purchase another one to price match. The next customer representative says they don't price match. Now I have to haul this Kabroken Joe to the store just to get my refund. Don't purchase here if you want a working grill.

Dude! Walmart sent me this item and the ceramic part was completely smashed. Whoever sent it clearly did not look inside the box at all or/ they did it on purpose. What a waste of time and my energy. Never will I buy an item like this from them again. Un-friggin-believeable!

I'm sure that it's nothing wrong with the product itself,except at arrival the crate was wobbly and when we opened it the bbq was in pieces,that is definitely the FedEx s negligence,it's hard to believe that the shipper would be so superficial with the packing.Fedex should be held liable for the tremendous amount of damages they cause with so many people.Simply use a company that actually appreciates that they have work.

Poor delivery service.
