Superb Outdoor Security Camera!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.---HIGHLIGHTS--- Easy Setup, Razor Sharp Video and Sound, Stable Operation, Sensitive Motion Detection, Versatile App, Accurate Night Vision, Internal and Online Storage, 2 Way Communication, Siren, Bright Dimmable Flood Lights, Works With Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa ---SETUP--- Setup is easy and straightforward. If you can handle changing a light fixture, than you can install this floodlight camera. The wiring harness exactly matches the wiring configuration in all standard junction boxes. Included in the box are the accessories (mounting bracket, screws, wire caps, etc.) to accommodate most installations. Swann has an excellent installation video on their website that shows the installation process step by step, and I highly recommend to review it prior to installation. After it is installed, the next step is to download the Safe by Swann App and pair the floodlight camera to your phone and Wi-Fi network. This pairing process was simple and took less than 2 minutes. ---USE AND PERFORMANCE--- The floodlight itself is very well made and feel capable of standing up well to outdoor use. Since it is made for outdoor placement is is rated as weatherproof (IP65). The video and sound quality is very crisp and detailed. People, animals, and objects are easily recognizable. The video quality can be set to low, medium, and high based on your needs and network strength. Be aware that streaming and uploading 1080P video requires a strong and stable internet/data network. I have a very fast broadband internet service and strong Wi-Fi network, and found the sound and video handling and transmission to be very stable. The Safe by Swann App is very intuitive and makes accessing and controlling the floodlight camera very easy. The App allows a great degree of customization of all of the functions. The motion detection is very sensitive and accurate. Fortunately, it is adjustable from low to high sensitivity depending on your preference and needs. In my backyard I set it to medium/high and had no issues with false wind or light alerts. The camera has three modes: Home, Away, and Night. All the modes are customizable based on the camera being armed, motion detection sensitivity, and light and siren response. The modes have to be manually set and there is no way to schedule the modes. I am hoping that a scheduling function is added in a future App update. The floodlight uses super bright (5000K/2500 Lumens) LED bulbs! I really like that they are dimmable in the App from full brightness down to one percent brightness. I keep them on at night at one percent brightness and find that my backyard is illuminated perfectly in the evening and at night. The night vision capability works well in low light conditions, but when the floodlight are activated they are usually bright enough to switch to full color recording. The siren can be set to low, medium, or high. The microphone is sensitive and picks up conversations well. The intercom likewise functions well. The unit has built in storage for about 7 days and offers 2 days of free online backup. Compatible with Siri, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. ---BOTTOM LINE--- Overall I found the operation and function of the Swann Floodlight Security Camera to be flawless! The Safe by Swann App is very fast and stable, and makes practically every function easily customizable. It looks very nice installed in my backyard, and I am looking forward to many years of use.

Easy to install, good to have
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great add-on you can have to your current alarm system. I installed to my backyard door light. It was really easy to install. Took me about 16 minutes (including removing the old light). It comes with all what you need for the installation with 2 different type of screws (for the electric box type). I connected it to the power line, turn on the breaker, installed the app on my phone and followed the steps. Very easy to do! In the beginning it was a little buggy but then it started working fine. The motion sensor is so effective, the LED lights are not that strong but strong enough for my application. Night vision is very good. Very sensitive motion detection that you can also adjust from the app. Live video monitoring is very good working. No hiccups or delays (very minor) It also has the alarm siren that I don't think I'll ever use or need. Not that loud. The microphone is VERY sensitive. I can hear people talking in my house! That's too much I think... Basic subscription will allow to have some short videos playback. It says they are saved locally on the device. You might upgrade to cloud storage to keep evidences or records if somebody brake the Swann or steal it. I think I'll get 2 more of this device to install on the other corners in my house. I like the way it works.

Full Feature Wi-Fi Security Camera/Floodlight
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start I think the Swann Wi-Fi Floodlight Security system is a good system, it is in fact the system I have been looking for to mount from my backyard deck for quite some time. It hits on every feature I was looking for in a HD camera floodlight system, and at great price. Fact is I was surprised at the pricing when comparing to other security camera/floodlights in the market. The mobile app that installs and manages the system is intuitive and simple to operate. After installing the Swann system to my back deck and downloading the app to my mobile I had the system up and running in minutes. Could not be easier. The setup of the system provides a highly flexible range of settings for lighting and siren duration after motion detection. The app includes a full mobile user manual which is thorough, and I suggest reading the guide to the get the most out of the Swann. Personally, I do not care for reading long manuals on my handheld, so I checked, and the User Manual PDF was on their website under support, nice to have the manual in hand. Lighting from the floodlights lights up my large backyard brilliantly and recordings provide good facial recognition at medium settings which I have decided to implement at this time due to storage capacity and medium range wi-fi connection signal to my closest router. For 1080p HD you should have a strong Wi-Fi signal. System is rated at seven days local storage to SD card and you receive two days of storage on their cloud. 30 days of cloud storage is available with subscription. Siren when set to high is not very loud and it cannot be heard in the adjoining room of the house, certainly my neighbor would never notice if it activated. It should get an intruder’s attention along with the illumination of the flood lamps, but do not expect it to wake you up in the middle of the night. One security issue I have is if I want to turn on the siren or floodlights manually with the app it takes about 30 seconds or better for the app to load on my phone. Overall the Swann is a solid implementation of a security camera/floodlight system which I believe will serve us well for years in keeping our family safe.

Backlighting Camera Flaw.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From the get-go, this Swann product was troublesome. The hook-up to the power supply of your home is like any other fixture that you have ever replaced. You should have no problems at all, as there are 3 wires (hot, neutral and ground). Very simple, even a caveman can do it. You can also visit the Swann website for a step by step installation video. Mounting of my unit didn't quite go as planned. In my particular situation, the supplied screw that holds your Swann fixture to the electrical box was not long enough to screw into the connection, so I was forced to reverse the inside bracket in order for the installation to work. My home was built in the year of 1966 and many things that normal fit homes, don't necessarily fit mine. It was either reverse the bracket like I did, or trek down to my local hardware store, to purchase a longer screw. The pairing of the product was a no brainer, as it was quick and easy once you downloaded the Safe by Swann application. The application was easy to us and very straight forward. The Swann floodlight has three modes which through the application can be changed from home, to away and night. The modes can be tweaked with regards to sensitivity, siren and the amount of light you wish the spotlights to throw. The floodlight makes use of LED bulbs (low energy cost), which is the wave of the future. Specifications indicate that the power consumption is 30 watts. I have seen comments on the web from consumers criticizing the lack of light for this product. Let me state, that this product will light up areas with plenty of light to spare. The Swann captures clear video, sound, and has a decent motion detector which incidentally can be tweaked within application settings. It also has 2 way communications which is a very nice addition to any security system. The units camera has several modes of operation, "Away, Home, and Night" all of which are controlled through the Swann application. I tested the siren, which is not loud at all, even when it was set to the loudest setting. The specifications indicate 75 decibels, but I have my doubts, as the loudness didn't seem powerful especially if you mount this unit in the rear of ones property. Here is the deal-breaker for me. My home has a northern exposure and the Swann product faces north. The product is mounted underneath my roofs overhang attached directly to the wall of my home, and in this location there is an abundance of bright daylight. I tested the video capabilities when the sun was high overhead. When a subject is situated in full sun, the video image was fantastic. Highly detailed and fully in focus. Highly troublesome was the fact that when the subject walked forward into the shade of the roofs overhang, the subject turned into a silhouette figure. There were no discernable features that were distinguishable on the subject. I tried tweaking the settings but nothing satisfactorily solved the silhouetting problem, therefore any film clip would be useless should you ever need them to identify a thief due to a break-in. For all of you photographers out there, there seems to be a problem with what's called :backlighting. If you have ever taken a photograph with a camera or cell phone of a person with a beautiful sunset in background of your subject, inevitably your subject will come out dark, and the sunset will have that perfect exposure. That is the problem with this product, as the camera cant not compensate for the exposure if your subject is backlit. "Since the video captured no distinguishable features, the system is worthless. This also goes for any still photographs that I captured while the subject was in the shade. Totally unacceptable. So you may be asking if the Swann is on my recommended list? No, unless the manufacturer can push down a software update to overcome the backlighting problem. Overall I found the operation and function of the Swann Floodlight Security Camera and application to be less than satisfactory. The Safe by Swann App is buggy and many times just egg times, either while utilizing WIFI or my phones data plan. I found that I had to close and reopen the application several times in order to obtain the proper operation.

Posted .Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear about the complications you experienced with our Swann Wi-Fi Floodlight Camera. Our brackets have been created to fit almost all homes, with the exception of a few scenarios, the mounting brackets should allow for easy installation. The issues experienced at your location are created due to the elements creating high contrast areas where the backlighting creates a subject appear darker than the rest of the image. Since this item has a fixed lens there is not a manner of the camera automatically refocusing. This will only occur for a few hours or less within the day when the light is pointing directly to the lens.
For the best results, our Technical Support Team can help with set up in a manner that would best fit your security needs.
Please be advised when remotely accessing your cameras on the application, a high upload and download speed is required for the best experience.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Please let us know how we may further assist you,
Thank you.

Super Easy to Install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Swann 1080p Wi-Fi Floodlight Security Camera is a great unit. I was a little intimidated at first because it requires hardwiring. I’m not a fan of messing with electricity. I had hoped this would come with a (solar?) battery option, but then again, who wants to climb up to charge a battery? We had to wait a bit after receipt to install because it was raining nearly every weekend. When all the stairs aligned for us to have the time and weather to install, we weren’t sure what to expect. Let me tell you – the installation went super smoothly. I was surprised how easy it was. The hardest part was figuring out which breaker powered the light we were replacing. We installed on to an existing light fixture (not a floodlight; just an outdoor carriage light). We had a copper grounding wire instead of the green/yellow as listed in the instructions (we also watched a video on the manufacturer’s web site). We were still able to make it work. The app provides step-by-step instructions on setting up the camera. It was relatively quick. We were up and running in no time. The unit has a siren feature (we did try this out – it’s loud and plays both on your phone and the unit). You can also adjust the brightness of your lights. I was using this to oversee our backyard, so I kept it at 100%. You have three modes – Home, Away, and Night. I wish you could set these up on timers, but it appears that it would have to be manually changed. Each mode can be armed (camera on) or not. The Home Setting defaults to not armed, and the others default to armed. The remaining features of the app are fairy intuitive. I was able to link to my Alexa devices, but I’ve not tried that out yet. The camera seems quite sensitive. I’ve had several alerts of motion but not anything visible in my video(s). I do have one nice clip of my neighbor’s fireworks, though. It shows our backyard then giant flashes of light. The clarity is nice – the video isn’t blurry or grainy. I can see the entire backyard clearly. I am beyond happy with this unit. Highly Recommend.

A Simple Security Camera. Install & Use with ease.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So simple to install just match colors of wires with power off. App is easy to use and drop dead simple. I thoroughly enjoy the fact there are no subscription fees out of the box. It offers onboard memory and free cloud storage, and no batteries to manage.

Easy install, good quality footage...BUT!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a simple install, and anyone can do it. Just turn off the power, follow the instructions. Now as for picture and video footage, it's great. I've attached a shot taken. But but but... There is a 5 to 10 second delay with the real time feed. Now before you say it's my internet connection, it's not. The router is close, AND I've got 1gb internet. It could just be that my entire house is connected lol! Great product!

Q: QuestionHow long are the recorded clips? Do the clips start before motion is detected?

Q: Questioncan I turn the lights off during the day light hours
Asked by Lilly1949.
- A:Answer Hello Lilly1949, The camera's built-in night detection sensor, which detects daylight and night (ambient brightness levels),automatically keeps the floodlights off during daytime to conserve electricity and make your floodlights last longer. You can still manually turn on the floodlights during the day using the light control tile on the dashboard or the live view screen. Q: QuestionDoes this camera have a dusk to dawn feature for longer range continuous footage at night? I’m afraid the motion detection won’t pick up at the distance I want continuous recordings of at night.
Asked by Mayfly71.
- A:Answer Once an event is triggered, the camera records for a minimum of 10 seconds, and if movement continues will keep recording for up to one minute per event. You do not have the option to record continuously. Your camera can detect movement of a person up to 32ft / 10m from the camera when on the highest True Detect Motion Sensitivity settings. More intense heat sources (e.g. vehicles) may detect a little further away and less intense heat sources (e.g. pets/small animals) may need to be a little closer before they are detected. The range/sensitivity of the motion sensor can be adjusted via the True Detect Motion Sensitivity settings bar in the app. For more information about this cameras, please check the link below: https://support.swann.com/floodlight-camera-swwhd-flocam-HkI1vLScE
