Worked great while camping! Click and hold buttons!

Worked great while camping! Click and hold buttons!
We have been camping for five days and although my folks have a motor home, we brought this because they’re not in a hook-up site for this trip. Also, we have two ‘tweens and all have watches and phones so we just felt we should be more independent about keeping our devices charged. I charged it fully at home prior to leaving. We have been here four days with items charging often and still the unit has 27% charge left! Click and hold: One thing that is important to know if you’re not an instruction reader (neither am I) is the buttons need to be held down for a bit to turn the device on and off. You must click and hold the power button and then click and hold the button for each charging zone (DC/USB/AC) you want to use. Just click and hold that zone’s button until the light turns on. Click and hold seems to be the important detail in getting the buttons to turn on and also off. The unit will also keep charging your devices without the display turned on. The green lights for power and each zone stay on but the display can toggle on/off without interrupting the device charge. The only thing I have not tried yet is charging the unit by connecting it to a solar panel. To my knowledge it did not come with a solar panel connector but it does come with a car lighter charger connection to charge the unit. The AimTom brand does come with solar charging connector (I got the AimTom brand units for use at my work after buying this one and they’re working beautifully to keep my students’ low vision video magnification devices running all day!)

This amazing Rockpals 300w Portable Power Station works right of the box. I could charge all of my electronic devices including iPhone, iPad, earbuds, wireless headphones, wireless keyboard, shaver, wireless toothbrush, smaller power banks, flash lights, Amazon Fire tablet, PC laptop and more simultaneously while charging itself by Rockpals solar panels. I did plug in additional 30,000 mAh power bank so it can recharge both the unit and the power bank the same time. As soon as I plug in the solar panel, the coolant fan starts spinning right of the bat, and the LCD screen show how much energy it got from current sunlight condition from 12w to about 68w on full sun. Not only it is convenient for the road trip, it saves my electric bill around the house as well as emergency readiness. I'm happy.

One month of use review - 3Star
After using the unit for about month and I am getting uncomfortable with the fact that the fan has started kicking in and whizzing at all time, when I plugged in AC to use my iMac. At 63w, the fan runs real loud and annoying. Not sure what I can do about.

Four months of use review - 5Star
Supreme customer service! Rockpals agents reached out to me many times & offered assistance & replacement of brand new & upgraded unit. Item received next day and worked like a charm. Rockpals really stands behind their products and have gained trust from me. I will not hesitate to buy more products from them. Thanks.

  • Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2021
I have been looking for a power station that was reasonably priced for camping and travel purposes. I'm a casual camper who goes out for 2,3 days. I'm also a "need my luxuries" type of girl so I want phone and maybe laptop so I can write whilst surrounded by nature. I wanted a multitude of charging ports, and I wanted those ports to be covered to keep out dust and debris. RockPals has US customer support, and I watched several reviews where it was compared against Jackery and did not perform as well for certain operations, but those were use cases I didn't anticipate running into that often. The price point and reputation drew me in.

I wanted pass through charging for my computer and phone (check), lightweight design with a handle so I didn't have to buy a separate carrying case (check) and compact (check). I've used this several times since purchase, and I'm getting great performance from it. I used it to power my cPAP all night (I bought a separate 12V adaptor to conserve some power) and even with heated coil and water I woke up the next morning with over 25% battery to spare! Turning off heat and using a normal hose I had well over half. (cPAP draws a LOT of wattage.) I've also charged all my devices and run an electric blanket, no sweat. It takes about 6 hours to fully charge with shore power. I love that the 12V and AC inputs are covered - keeps out dust, etc. I haven't used it in extremely cold weather (lowest would be around 36F), but I didn't see any performance loss.

Design: I'm a sucker for the design of this, I have to admit. I love red and black, and the slightly retro theme and logo appeal to me, aesthetically. However, I'm obviously not going to buy just for looks, I'm just saying it doesn't hurt to enjoy the view.

I showed this to someone who mentioned that other models have the lantern on the side that this one is missing, and it doesn't have the wireless charging feature. If those are show stoppers for you, than this won't be for you, but for me I have lanterns already and don't need wireless charging.

Overall, very pleased with my purchase and the performance of this unit!

UPDATE! - After going back and forth with customer service, the rep finally admitted that this product would not last much more than 2 years. (mine lasted 2 years a 3 months) No matter how few/many times its used! So looking back it cost me about $70 per use. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!

Purchased this a little over 2 years ago. Only used it 4 times for my CPAP. A couple times camping and a couple times when the electric went out at our house. I used it last week when the electric went out due to a bad storm. I woke up and it was on 13%. I tried recharging it and it wouldn't recharge. I emailed customer service. They told me to hold down a couple buttons a time. I did what they told me and it didn't work. Wrote them back again and got a sorry, but you're out of luck email. They offered me a $30 coupon on a new one??!! I don't thinks so. Why would I ever purchase another one of your products???!! Especially if its going to fail after a few uses? After reading more reviews it seems like I'm not the only one who had the same problem with this Chinese made product.
