This Value Pack contains a 10 year sealed battery smoke alarm and a battery operated carbon monoxide alarm for your home's protection against two threats. The Kidde i1040 is a 10-year, sealed battery, ionization, smoke alarm with Alarm Memory and Hush® feature. The i1040 alarm will automatically activate when it is attached to the mounting bracket; there are no pull-tabs, no switches, everything is automatic. When the unit reaches low battery condition (approx 10 years after power up), it will chirp, indicating the alarm is in need of replacement. The customer can use a simple tool such as a screwdriver to deactivate the unit, stopping the low battery chirp and making it safe for disposal. The sealed-in board-mounted battery will power the i1040 unit for its complete 10-year life. No replacement battery will ever be needed. This alarm uses ionization sensing technology. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. The battery-operated Kidde carbon monoxide detector KN-COB-LP2 utilizes sophisticated electronic components to protect you and your family from the dangers of carbon monoxide. This CO alarm includes a slide-out battery door that gives immediate access to the batteries and a safety feature that makes it difficult to close the door without the batteries being installed. The inside cover of the battery door features quick reference guide for what to do in case of an alarm. This easy-to-install Kidde carbon monoxide detector is suitable for all living areas.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently needed to go through all of my smoke detectors and replace expensive 9v batteries. I won't tell you how much it cost me, but it was ridiculous. I'm really excited about this new system. I don't mind replacing the alarm every 10 years if I don't have to touch the batteries every few years. It's a great innovation, and I'm super happy with it.

The alarm's sound is loud, obnoxiously so. It's fairly compact and will fit in just about any space. When you twist it into the hanging plate the first time it activates the battery. Really cool.

The carbon monoxide detector seems to be quality, is loud enough to hear anywhere in my house and takes AA batteries.

I wouldn't ever buy safety equipment like this from an off brand. This is the type of product where brand loyalty/brand quality is everything. Hopefully I'll never need either of them, but if I do I trust they'll work the way they're supposed to.

these are incredibly nice items. they are constructed well. they are easy to use and very easy to put up rather than using the screws. I opted to use double stick tape which actually worked out a lot better. tested them. made sure that they were working perfect. everything was fine. The smoke alarm comes with a 10-year guarantee pre-installed battery. you don't have to do anything about the battery for 10 years guarantee. according to the box, the CO2 detector takes two AA batteries uses a little bit more juice so you will have to replace the batteries occasionally. but there is a light on it that will tell you when you need to replace the batteries. very easy to put the batteries in and out. If I could have given them 10 stars I would have

The fire alarm appears to work well, but the carbon monoxide monitor does seem to work. I will have to try to figure it out more. Perhaps the batteries provided do not work. My previous Kidde fire alarm worked really well, hopefully this one will too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a great value and is something everyone should have inside the house. With this pack you get a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector. Both came with batteries. Easy to put wherever you need them. I tested both out of the package and both worked. I feel safer knowing that I have them. While I hope I will never have to hear them go off. I can sleep better knowing my family is going to be safer if we do ever need it.

Great value

The items themselves are as described; and I'm satisfied with both.  My issue was with the packaging. The package was an obvious return because it had been cut open and you could see where a couple stickers had been removed. I'm happy they worked but an obvious return should not have been shipped.
