Shopped for a long time.  Looked at the DuroMax and found this Sportsman was available.  Dual Fuel, plan to run it on Propane and never put Gas into it if I can.

This is not a BONDED NEUTRAL generator. Meaning the ground and neutral wires are NOT connected as it is in your house wiring.  Sportsman's hot line recommends at least a 2 foot ground rod.

Added Oil and propane.  Started in 3 pulls.  Currently I run it an hour or so a day while breaking-in.  After that I'll change the oil after 10 hours and wait for my first outage. Sportsman's hot line recommends 20 hours then change the oil.

it started up on 2 pulls, I turned off the choke & smooth as butter!
after 10 min warmup I used 2 electric heaters to load the unit,
slowly to see how it responded. Works fantastic.
Testing & checking with propane PRICELESS!! no gas smell no
jugs no prob. If I ever need it for days The 2 pumps I bought will assist me in 
syphoning from the cars. works for me.

Right sized right price, dual fuel easy!!!

Great generator! I've run it for my camp trailer for over 300 hrs. using a microwave oven, air conditioner, and power tools. I have changed oil and cleaned air filter about every 20 hrs. I,ve lust run preamium gas and it still starts first pull every time, and doesn't burn any oil. I do recommend wheels being it weighs a bit over 100 lbs. with fuel.

Great Price

Purchased a new travel trailer last spring and needed a new generator to go with it. So far I have only ran it on gasoline rather than propane but I am more than happy. I can run both my AC and microwave at the same time although I only did it as a test. 

My 6 year old son can start the machine in two pulls even when it was only 22 degrees in the mountains. 

There is a burn in period I read about someplace for the generator. I actually ran mine for about 10 hours and changed the oil before putting it under load. 

This is not a quiet machine but I don't camp in campgrounds so it is not a problem for me.

For the price, I do not think you will find a better machine. I purchased the 4 year plan just in case because even after $40.00 for the warranty it was still a better price than any of the competitors.

Excellent Deal

Because generators are often used infrequently, it is very common for the gasoline to go stale in them. I intend never to put gasoline in mine.  LP gas (propane) works fine and in fact it starts uncommonly easy, which I attribute to its LP fuel source.  Because it's not an inverter generator the quality of the electricity it produces is not good for charging electronics, but it will certainly charge a battery that will then charge your electronics. I instructed my daughter to buy one as a backup for their home, and just send a link to a buddy who is looking for a generator.  LP is less energy dense than gasoline, so it consumes it a bit faster than it would if you were running gasoline, but I'm totally fine with that. I also bought a corrugated stainless steel hose off Amazon ($14) that slipped over the end of the exhaust so I can run it all the way out of my bus.  I run common tools in building outta my Skooley and this is just the right KW size.  Wouldn't cover the surge required to start a 3hp tablesaw, but does fine for my homeowner quality Rigid tablesaw.

Definitely a good solution for my purposes.

So far so good.  This was the only portable generator that I could find that had electric start, RV 30amp plug in, dual fuel capability, four 120 volt receptacles, and a 12 volt battery charger.  I saw this exact same unit on another website for double the price!  I guess that one was meant for people who do not shop and compare.  The unit was shipped to my house in half the time they estimated it would take.  Shipper communicated well to ensure that I would be at home to sign for it.  I could tell that it was well taken care during all handling.  Instructions for assembly were clear except for the type of oil required.  A call to customer service took care of that.  It takes SAE 10W-30 non-synthetic.  Once assembled and filled with oil it was very easy to move it around.  I bought a motorcycle battery for it, cost $50.00.  The size fit right into place.  The battery connectors that came with the generator did not fit the battery posts but I modified it easily.  Every battery post is a little different.  Once in place, the generator seriously started up within 2 seconds!  It wasn't as loud as I thought it was going to be.  All of the big generators are going to be around 68db anyway.  I went ahead and tested the receptacles and they all worked.  So I'm happy so far.  I wanted this thing for my 30amp RV and for the frequent power outages that occur at my house.  I feel very prepared now.  An electrician is scheduled to come here and prepare my home circuit breaker box so I can plug it right in when needed.  I'm hopeful that it will give me years of good service.  It has gotten off to a great start.

This was much more generator than I originally wanted but the on sale price was actually a bit lower than the unit I was considering so I chose this 4000 series. 

I'm fully satisfied with my purchase. Unboxing and setting it up was easy, the instructions are thorough and make sense.  It only took 15-20 minutes to get it ready to start up, including the wheel kit. Since it's quite heavy I'd suggest spending the few more bucks for that and I also got the cover it's only $20.

I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the Sportsman Sandstorm 4000. Started right up on the 2nd pull. It runs my 5th wheel with no problems. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a generator. VERY AWESOME it runs on propane or gas.

Great Product for the Price

Easy to set up just add 4 rubber boots for feet and adding  oil can be a pain threading dip stick without cross threating … Two reasons for 3 stars   1.  Dipstick a pain to threat on after adding oil and.  2.  Not 3.6 gal tank it is only 2.5 gal tank i used my 2.5 gal can to fill it ..

Starts easily but changing oil can be a pain

This generator has reverse polarity.
I found out after using my G-N bonding plug to eliminate the "no ground" fault with my Progressive EMS50X.
Then the reverse polarity showed up and I found the gold lines hooked to the silver neutrals and it ends up wrong on the 30 amp rv plug.
A simple 180* rotation of the rv plug lets you hook the wires correctly and also lets you plug in an rv cable a lot easier than having the bar in the way.
I sent emails to the manufacturer and they did reply but nobody seemed to care.
Buyer beware if you have sensitive electronics in your rv
