I purchased this as an upgrade to a 7 year old LCD monitor that didn't provide enough real estate for me as I will be working from home starting next month. The pixel density and larger resolution are exactly what I needed. I find this single monitor with more pixels a better solution for home use than taking up a lot of space with a dual monitor setup in my smaller home office space. I never used the stand provided - this went right on to an articulating arm, so I can't speak to that aspect of the device. Hooked up to my MacBook Pro, this thing is great. Plenty of brightness (I'm someone who actually prefers to tone down the brightness anyway) and it's crystal clear and so smooth compared to a standard monitor. I have zero eye fatigue/strain after a 6 hour coding or writing session which is wonderful. My previous monitor was really bothersome in this area. This LG arrived quickly, came with all the cords needed, and is defect-free. It is a significant improvement over a standard/older/cheap 1080p monitor - so if you're on the fence regarding an 'upgrade' here - do it! Absolutely worth it and a noticeable improvement in my opinion. The only thing that I would improve with the unit is the power supply - a bulky wall wart that really messes up my power strip situation. I recommend getting one of those short 6" extension cord thingys to remedy this. Other than that... it's a no brainer purchase in my book for anyone looking for a really solid, much better than average, monitor on a budget.
