This is a really good telescope for the price. if you can get it on deal like i did wich was half off i recommend. You cant see jupiter really close but you can see its 4 moons and a bit of saturn. You can see craters on the moon and it comes with a phone holder and bt adapter which i find the bt adapter usless but you can take some good photos.

really good product and worth while

Reading the reviews made me a bit skeptical, but it was on sale so we figured it was worth a shot. No one in the family has any experience with telescopes, but within minutes of setting it up (which was also extremely easy) we were looking at an amazing image of Sirius! I can't recommend this enough for someone who wants to start out star gazing.  The diagonal could be a bit better, but for the cost, I'm still amazed at the quality!

Celestron for the win!

The telescope was easy to assemble, and is a terrific "toy" for my you child who just entered the sixth grade.  He was extremely excited and could not wait to take his new "best friend" out for a "test spit."  He's really discovering a fascination with science.  He's not ABUSING his "phone" time as much. And, he really seems to be taking a second look at a career in astronomy.  Thank you Wal-Mart for changing our lives.

Celestron telescope

This is a very nice telescope and is good quality.  If you want to see the moon close up it is great, you can also view some of the larger planets and see some detail.  The phone mount works well for taking photos.  You won't see smaller planets with much detail, it will look like a small ball.  To see much detail in planets you need a large cumbersome telescope and you won't end up messing with it because it is too big...I know because I owned a large one for a few years and rarely used.  This telescope is small enough to store under a bed and pull it out whenever you want.

Nice telescope with phone mount

This was a very good telescope! It took very clear pictures of the moon! 10/10 recommended.

Best telescope I ever had!!

This is so easy to assemble and use. Instructions are super easy and detailed with pictures. Comes with everything needed to assemble and use straight after putting it together. Bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter and she loves it. She's 11 and has no issues using it. I put it together in about 6 minutes, by myself. Really stable and strong. It's not flimsy. Only thing worried me was when moving the telescope up and down with the handle it made a popping sound like bubble wrap, but it's the grease getting worked into the gears that allow the telescope to move. Came packaged very good and protected from shipping damage. Also comes with information on how to download the Free app and information on the different stars and everything else you could possibly want to see. Definitely recommend and I am extremely satisfied with product quality and price. Was pleasantly surprised with how large it extended on it's legs. Product is as described and comes with everything it shows. Love the cellphone bracket to attach the phone to take pictures with the remote. Really great buy. Quality telescope!

I just wanted a simple scope to get me into the hobby. This Celestron was good value and easy to setup and use. You will need a Barlow 2x lens to see more distant objects but you will need to buy separately. This is a decent basic scope but I would recommend getting a larger objective lens (=>100mm) scope to get more light. On the positive note, the 70AZ is light, easy to setup, and use. It comes with a red dot finder which works well in aligning the scope to what you want to see. The tripod is well made and works well. Overall a good product for getting into the hobby without breaking the bank.

Entry level useable telescope for Beginners.

The telescope itself isn't too bad, but the eyepieces and mount are abysmal. Yeah, you could buy better eyepieces and mount but at that point you're better off just buying a telescope in the $300 range that comes with an equatorial mount and better eyepieces. As for what I could see... Jupiter was hardly visible with the highest magnification, Mars and Venus were basically just dots of light, I was able to see the M43 nebula but it is quite dim. Works reasonably well for viewing the moon in decent detail, though. Absolutely not an astrophotography telescope kit. I will most likely return this and buy a larger refractor or reflector for my personal needs. If it weren't for the frustrating mount, I would say this would be a decent telescope for a child, but you can get this telescope with an equatorial mount for a little bit more and that would be ideal. Very lightweight, though. I will include some photos of the moon I took with the included smartphone adapter (which is also terrible).
