Hi there, this is the Walmart version of the Arcade Classics, sold only at Walmart.  The cabinet (arcade game itself) is slightly smaller than the other versions on the market to be collectible in order for people to collect them all and be able to house them together.  This is the only sized Arcade Classics by Basic Fun not to be confused with other miniature arcade games sold by other companies.  Please note that the Walmart Basic Fun Arcade Classic versions are 6" high x 3" deep x 3.25" wide. Is this game the same size at the "tiny arcade" series? I have the whole tiny arcade series and was hoping that they had the same dimensions.

The game is lightweight, comes with batteries and has a try me feature. Win 2 rounds to win the match. Also has the 'Finish Him' feature the original has with the game ending, winning move. Uses 3 double AA batteries, included. Recommended 13+ age rating. This is 1 of 15 in a series of classic games called 15 Arcade classics. It's very affordable, it's mobile, and it's fun. What's not to like. For the old school gamers that used to beat and bang the old version, this unit should be used with some care as it is a mini version and the controls are small and more delicate. I like it. 5 stars.

Nice game for a small unit

There is an on / off button, a mute button, a moveable joystick, buttons for combat (high / low punch, high / low kick, block / block).

Select your fighter person and then battle just like the old school computer game! To win the round, drain the opponent's health (shown in the bar). The first player to win two rounds wins the match. Yes - you hear "Finish Him!" How fun is that?!

These hand-held games are so much fun for giving as gifts. Earlier this year we mailed another one of Arcade Classics games (Oregon Trail Handheld Arcade Game) to a deployed family member. Fit perfectly into a USPS flat rate medium size box. 

Arcade Classics does a great job of secure packaging - so no worries if you are mailing for the holidays. The game itself is screwed into the back of the box and the plastic screws are taped in place. There is a tab to pull prior to game play so the batteries stay powerful. With such a solid exterior case, the game arrived in perfect condition. Brought cheers of happy laughter upon opening. This Mortal Kombat hand-held Arcade Classic game will be a huge hit!

perfect holiday gift! just like the game!

My boys grew up playing Mortal Kombat and they still love it! They were very excited to see this tiny arcade version of it! For them it's more like a collectors item because it really is too small to work the controls with their hands and the sound isn't the best. They were disappointed that the phrase “finish him” was not included because that's what MK is all about! Overall they are happy with it and to be able to add it to other MK items they have.

Must have for MK fans

I recently received the “Mortal Kombat - Handheld Arcade Game - Color Screen.” I was really excited to get this handheld arcade game because I used to play this all the time when I was younger. I was kind of skeptical of how good this game was going to be because it is just a small little toy but I was actually pleasantly surprised. You still have the old-school one on one timed matches. There is a little joystick and 6 buttons you can play with. You are able to choose from seven different fighters and the graphics are actually pretty good AND in color! You have to be the first one to win two rounds which means you win the match. After winning that match you move up to a harder bad guy or level. I was worried a lot of the awesome things that used to be in the real game would not be in this handheld version like each player's special fighting skill but they actually were. This game even has the “Finish Him/Her” words! The box says this is for ages 13 and up. This handheld arcade game uses three AA batteries that are included which is awesome! Bottom line, this game is awesome!

Actually pretty awesome!

The product came very well packed and my 11 year old son was the first one to play with it. My son loves it, it's easy to use. He figured out the game really fast, the bottoms are all labeled so you know which one is kick and punch. It will be a great game for long car rides or just for some family game night entertainment.

Mini hand held video game

The Mortal Kombat handheld Arcade game is very accurate to the original game in the 
Arcade. It's easy to play and lots of fun. My family likes to see who can get the farthest in the
Game before losing. So much fun sharing something from when we were young with our children
now. You can pick your character you want to play and figure out each of their special moves. The outside of the game has the exact artwork that the original arcade game had, which is so cool.

I bought the other arcade with the bird game, my son liked but it is so difficult to play... I barely can see much less play. This one has a better quality but the sound gets a little annoying after a while... good toy for a collector, reminds me pretty well to the original Mortal Combat game

Better than the other ones

This game has been around a long time, but for some reason, I have not had the opportunity to play it very often. When this was offered to Walmart Spark Reviewers it seemed like a perfect time to remedy my lack of familiarization with this game. To start with, the audio isn't that great. I was disappointed about that. I was also disappointed that it wasn't more portable. I expected it to be easier to take out and about, but it is a bit big and clunky. It did come with instructions [Yay!!] and it had a cheat sheet of finishes for the different characters (which is helpful for me since I have not played Mortal Kombat very much). The actual quality isn't bad, but that wasn't a real problem for me since I mostly care about the inputs. The control stick is OK at best but the buttons are a bit better, and both are easy to use. In the end it isn't a bad mini arcade machine but there distractors I mentioned above are some things that need to be fixed and is the reason that I gave it 4 stars vs 5.

A Good [mini] Arcade Game

Ah, the age old classic in a lovely little arcade box. This little Mortal Kombat novelty item is surprisingly good at what it does. I first had some reservations about how well it would play as the box seems like it would be a little cumbersome to use. I am happy to report that this is not the case. I will break it down in categories below in order for the review to be more readable.

Design
- The case looks great and the styling is very well done. 
- The sounds can be a little muffled or “static-y” but that really isn't that surprising considering 
 how old the game is. It may have always sounded like that, but I can't really recall.

Playability
- The only real gripe I have with this product is the controls feel a little slow, but once again… 
 that may have always been a problem with the game and I just don't remember it.

4 out of 5. A really great little novelty product for any Mortal Kombat fan. I imagine that this isn't meant to be played rigorously because it is an arcade fighting game…and violently hitting the buttons on this case could damage them quite quickly, I'm sure. I think it was made for decoration as much as actually intended for real play. Still, a cute buy if you have a friend who likes the series.

Solid little game box for an old classic.

A little small for my 30-something eyes, but this game brought back so many memories. First of all it's adorable and looks great on the shelf. It plays in full color and had a loud speaker than is adjustable to 2 volumes and mute. The controls are a little small for an adult but it's great for short term playing. Actually, this would be perfect for a bathroom!

Brought back memoriea

Found this not much fun. The screen is too small. The volume is fuzzy sounding. Picture and lettering are not clear. The instructions on how to get the movements of the fighters are more than confusing. Selecting fighters was hard. No enjoyment here.
