ALL METAL Mode All metal mode detects metals including iron, aluminum, gold, bronze, silver and their products. And you can judge the type of metal you detected with unique audio tones.	DISC Model You can eliminate the target you don’t want and avoid interference from other metals on the target you are searching for. It not only provides more accurate detection data and improves your detection efficiency.	Pinpoint Function You can use P/P to pinpoint the target after ALL METAL mode or DISC mode to find the approximate range. Once the button is pressed, the detector will become very sensitive so that you can find the target more accurately. I've been a detectorist for decades. I have owned and used scores of detectors of various brands. I love taking other people out detecting with me that have never tried it so I bought this one because it had all the features I wanted and looked to be simple enough to operate for those that come along with me. After a day testing it out and learning to operate it well enough to instruct a newbie how to use it in just a few minutes, I found this detector to be well worth the money. On test day I found numerous items including a brass lock, a skeleton key, several modern coins and a Sterling silver ring from depths near the surface to as deep as 8". As electronics advance I'm amazed at new features and accuracy of new metal detectors and this detector proves that. This detector has features that were very expensive just a few years ago. In the attached video you'll see the "Pinpoint" feature used to narrow down the exact location of the silver ring just before digging it up with the included mini-shovel.
If you are looking for an economical, entry level detector with the advanced features and capabilities of a much more expensive machine - YOU CAN'T GO WRONG purchasing this detector. I'm very impressed. It took less than 5 minutes to assemble, put in batteries (2 x 9v - not included) and start detecting. You can set it to ignore different metals (called "descrimination") but after some practice you'll learn the tones that sound for various types of metal. Most experienced detectorists use the tone to identify objects because we don't want to miss anything like Gold which detectors identify as the same as aluminum pull tabs. So if you set it to descriminate pull tabs, you'll miss any gold! Oh and I received it the NEXT day with Prime.

Great starter metal detector

I've wanted a metal detector since I was a kid. I started looking online in metal detector groups and they said you need to spend $800 for starter model. Well that's crazy. I did't even know if I will enjoy it. Well I got this one to see if it is a fun hobby. So far I love it! This set came with everything I needed to get started (except batteries but I knew that because its clearly in the listing). I was too excited to read the manual so I just turned it on and hit the backyard. The controls are super simple and I understood them without reading anything. I am a techie so maybe read the manual if you aren't tech savvy. I swept my yard and got a lot of little beeps right away. Then I got a big beep. I used the cool collapsable shovel/pick digging tool and started at it. My yard is filled with roots so the serrated edge of the shovel was really useful! About 4 inches down I found the weird copper thing in the photo. It weighs 3 ounces so its about 50 cents worth of copper. Hey! This thing is already paying for itself! Well here I am a week into this hobby and I'm about to order rechargeable batteries for this bad boy and a pin pointer to help me find my loot when I dig a hole. Maybe I'll be ready for the $800 model next year but so far this is enough for me.

The Canway metal detector is a wonderful little machine with semi item discrimination (you cant really discriminate out iron much). It states waterproof but the coil is water proof, if the box gets wet it is done for. It is wonderful for finding coins, though if you are trying to test it with valuable coins or jewelry please put markers where the items are just in case it cannot pick them up. It does pick up items very well but I dont like having to hold down the pin-pointer button, the tones sounds are very low so I do recommend getting a headset for it. Rings like all other metal detectors show up as nickles so please take that in mind. Battery life does drain fast for some reason. Although I have said lots of things it cant do well it really does work well for the price and I would recommend it for any beginner.

Cheap metal detector but it works

It's cheap and it detects metal, I think this is great for kids.

But the discrimination sucks, it lags, so it beeps when the metal detector is past the metal, and you have to slowly go back to find the spot it beeped on. But it's worse, it has auto ground balance and if you go too slow it just balances it out and stops detecting (so you can't hold it over a spot and get what kind of metal it thinks it is). And the discrimination seems so random, seems everything registers as iron most of the time, but also everything registers as precious metals, and you can't go over slow to get a more accurate reading.

But it does detect metal, I found a silver necklace on day one in my backyard. Once you hit something you really need to use the pinpoint function, it works much better for finding spots, but turns off discrimination and you have to hold the button to keep it on.

I have been looking for a new metal detector for some time. My dad had one from the 80s it was a Whites metal detector and I actually still have it. This seemed to be pretty good looking and has all the latest technology and for $99 you really can't beat the price. Check out the video and you can see an unboxing. It is very light. I was surprised how light it was compared to the old Whites. The whole thing aside from the control module is practically weightless and the control panel itself is not that heavy either. I like the 3 different tones that it has. It makes it easy to identify what class of metals you are detecting. It only took about 5 to 6 minutes to set up. I recommend reading through the instruction manual since it really explains how to use it and does so pretty well. If you are interested in getting a metal detector either as a beginner or someone who has done in the past I highly recommend this one. If you like my video please give it a thumbs up. Thanks.
