I bought this for my son who is 2 1/2, almost 3. He is about 3' tall and average weight, and this pack fits like a glove. The straps are cinched all the way in, but the pack itself is just the right size. It's nice knowing he has a lot of room to grow with as much strap adjustment I have. I also love that it has a waist AND sternum strap. It keeps the pack very secure and stable on him when we are hiking or out for a walk. It has a lot of room for gear, too, so he can carry all his own gear when we got backpacking and it doesn't overload him.

I bought my 4 yr old and 6 yr old girls these backpacks and I'm so happy with my purchase. Besides fitting them perfect with the option of extra support with the hip/ waist strap there is the option to use a bladder with this pack if you choose. Colors are great and plenty of pockets to store things. Good quality as always with Osprey.

Very nice pack. I ordered the teal color. There are a couple of different pictures of this pack that show it as more of a blue, but it is definitely teal. The water bottle pouch on each side is very handy. Works perfect for my size 4t son. The main pack seems a little large for his frame, but leaves a lot of room to grow and the shoulder straps have plenty of adjustments to get a good fit. I'm very happy with this bag.

First off, this pack is kind of expensive for a kids pack but it is the only pack that I found that has a suspension system.

It keeps the weight off my boy's shoulders and puts it where it belongs, on his hips. He was using a school type backpack before I bought him this and with 5-8lbs would tell me his shoulders hurt after about a mile or two.

Since using this we've been on a few 4-6 mile hikes and I don't hear anything about sore shoulders with about 10lbs... Success!!! Reference child is 46 inches and weighs about 50lbs and the adjustments are at the minimum, construction is good, should last him a couple of years just long enough to break in my second child ;-)

Remember, when introducing children to backpacking start short, keep the pack light (rule of thumb keep the pack under 20% of their body weight), take frequent breaks and above all have fun!

Happy trails!

Great for toddlers & small kids up to 5yrs old ... I have a 40lb 7yr old (who is the smallest 1% on the growth chart). I bought this bag because many said it could fit smaller kids & it just looked tiny. Great quality though! We ordered the Osprey Jet 18 for only $10 more. I'll post pics & a review when it arrives 😁

For us, this was a step up from the Deuter kids pack because it seems more grown up. My kid loves the zipper pulls (easy on the fingers), the small outer pocket for his sunglasses and toothbrush, and the whistle ("for emergencies only") he thinks is the coolest thing ever. We have used this mostly for airplane travel and the cupholders on the side are great with the water bottles we use. It is small, but when kid falls asleep and I have to carry kid + backpack off an airplane, I'm grateful its not any bigger!! It fits the ipad, headphones, and a few toys, spare undies or a pullup.

This is our 5th Osprey backpack in the family, we've really not found another brand we like better!! The quality is perhaps a bit more than is needed for a kid, but we are passing it on to the next kiddo as well. It is nice knowing it won't fall apart mid-trip.

I bought this kids backpack expecting it to be for a child but its too small for both my 11 year old and 6 year old it really would be best for a 3 or 4 year old and I am not sure what kind of 4 year old goes hiking. Would be perfect it was a normal child size but it is my fault for not checking the specs

My kids love these packs. We have both the teal and the orange/red. They love playing with the little whistle (I had to put a stop to that though; it's very annoying). The pack is very sturdy and well made, which is expected from Osprey. My boys are very hard on their things and these backpacks have stood up to the torture without any damage. We don't use them for school backpacks, only for day trips and hiking. I don't think a 3-ring binder would fit because they're a little on the narrow side, perfect for a small person.

Molto bello e ben fatto.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great backpack for starting school
Reviewed in Australia on March 13, 2019
Backpack is great for kids starting out at school (5-6yrs); light-weight, bright colour, plenty of easily accessible compartments...and the whistle built into the chest strap is a nice touch.
Seems to be holding up well after a number of weeks solid work.
Item was delivered well ahead of the advised date.
