I wrestle with gum disease primarily as a result of high blood pressure medication. Every three months I either see my dentist or my periodontist for a cleaning. Now that I have laid the foundation of this review.... I am always on the lookout for something that helps my cause. I already own a Philips electric toothbrush. I bought this unit 3 months ago at the recommendation of my periodontist. I went to see her yesterday for my cleaning. She said she saw a 30% Improvement!
(It had been getting worse). I was waiting to see her before submitting this review. I therefore recommend this product.
Note: After about a month it stopped working. I contacted their customer service (Philips) and they quickly replaced the unit. No I did not use it in the shower like another reviewer. Also, forget the claims, you WILL have to continue to FLOSS manually. I believe its effectiveness is in forcing (in my case) mouthwash between the teeth and into your gums.

I had the first generation and that one could only last 2 months. Philips sent a replacement but I saw the same problem. I thought the newer version (This one) could be better but the only improvement is almost zero.The three way button is not water proof at all -- it just press fitted (See photo). Also inside hoses are just slide in, when high pressure water passing through there are a lot of leakages. So I can see a lot of water deposited inside the house once opened (See photo).This design caused PCB damage (See photo). Depends on your room temperature, sooner or later (1 to 5 months) there's short circuit on main power supply, especially during charging where high current passing through the water.It took more than 5 years for Philips migrating from the first generation to this one but I still see little design improvement: Same leakage, same PCB damage.You should NOT buy this unless you want to donate your money to Philips.
