I had an older model which was made of silicone, which seemed to tear easier than this kind of plastic. I needed a replacement after having the other one for four years. This is protective, but it doesn't stick to the screen like the older model, and instead leaves a sort of a bubble over the screen, which leads me to having to press harder on the screen when texting. The home, power, and volume buttons are also harder to press.
