I convinced my Husband that a Wii system would be a great gift to ourselves for Christmas. I was hoping to get the best price on a bundle, but when I look at the bundles that are out there I realized I didn't really know what I needed and what I should be looking for.

We don't have any kids and would be using the system for entertainment for ourselves and when we have other couples over. We really enjoy the bowling and a game called Bloom Blox (sp?).

Does anyone have any suggestions and price ranges I should be looking for?

Thanks!

You should look on ebay . we bought our on there, with 7 games and two controllers and two wii wheels and paid 198 for it - used

also we have found that we dont need alot of stuff.. the wii wheel helps alot because we have mario kart but other than that a controller is fine --we do alot of guitar hero not alot of shooting or war games

I would recommend getting a charging station for the remotes and rechargeable batteries....

If you buy new and MUST pay full price, go amazon.com . no tax usually and free shipping. Otherwise look at packages that would have extra controllers as a bundle (price each item to see how much you're actually saving with the bundle). Some places only save you $5! That's just wrong!

If you like the Wii Sports (the bowling) then you'll probably like the new Wii sports Resort. Look for it to come with 2 motion controller accessories instead of the usual 1. I've seen it at costco and online for the same price as the pack with 1 accessory.

Finally, I second getting rechargable batteries for the controllers but not the charging stations. Most people I know feel the controllers are most comfortable when they have the plastic sleeves on them and it would have to be a bit of a hassle to remove it every time you're done playing. Plus, they sometimes have been known to overheat. The Hybrid rechargable batteries by Rayovac or Duracell have been the best for me (1 charge lasts up to 4 months of occasional play or 2 weeks of continuous) and they happen to be among the best priced. They can also be charged by any rechargable battery charger.

Keep on the lookout for your needs and sales and have fun! :-)

I bought my Wii system last week from Dell when they had it on for $179. I then bought the Wii fit plus on Amazon and I also bought the Wii sports resort from Amazon . This morning we had a family bowling tournament and my 4 year old daughter came in 2nd(she beat her mommy)

I agree 100% on those batteries, rechargeable rock!! And have saved us a bundle of $ and I believe it was KoopawnKode who told me last year to get them instead of the charging dock and I am so glad I followed his suggestion.
I can't tell you how many times I have charged and used those batteries over and over....maybe 100 + times and still going strong.
A reasonably priced game that is also fun for younger kids is CARNIVAL Games....you can shoot ducks, play skee ball, throw baseballs to knock things down, just like you would at a carnival.
The characters are freaky looking (how I wish you could use your little Mii people like in Wii sports) but aside from that it is one of the most fun "bargain" games I have found. HTH

Thanks for the information everyone!

What would be a good price for the basic system plus one extra remote and an additional game? Is 269.00 too high? The pricing structure is hard to figure.

The base price for a system which includes 1 remote and nunchuk is $199. An additional remote is $34.96 (on Amazon for example) a Nunchuk is $17.49 (Amazon). If you bought the game Wii Play is comes with a remote for $44.99 (amazon). I dont know if there are going to be any deals on BF sometimes they go lower.

Wii System $199.00
Remote 34.96
Nunchuk 17.49

Total $251.45

Instead of just the remote you get Wii Play It would be $261.48 (if my math is good)

Are you interested in any specific game, they are all different prices. Depending on what you want you can get them as low as $9.99

Thanks racerfan.

I am interested in the Boom Blox game, which wasn't included in any game options that I had seen. That game seems to be around $45.

What is your opinion of the system that Walmart online has available right now - Wii with Wii fit and balance board for $299? That looks like a savings of only about $20 to me.

Do you know anyone with a Sams card? They have the wii play game which comes with a wii mote and the nunchuk for $57.64. About the same prices as the remote and nunchuk along and you get another game. Heres the link...

See if Gamestop is going to have a deal on BF.
