Moved to Amazfit from Fitbit. I think I like it.
    4 Stars
Moved to Amazfit from Fitbit. I think I like it.
I'd been in the Fitbit ecosystem for around eight years (HR then a Charge), but wasn't thrilled with spending so much on a tracker after the screen cracked on the last one (my fault), so I started shopping around and watching/reading reviews. Amazfit stood out as a good balance between cost and features. I also considered Huawei Band 8 and Xiaomi Mi Band 8 before choosing Amazfit. What I like:Bright screen, plenty of notification options, Alexa integration, weather on the band, lots of watch faces to choose from. What I've not loved- Calorie use/intake are not a thing in Amazfit like they are in Fitbit. If you want to track calories you consume, it's not with this system. The way it figures your calories is also different because it only really shows you the "extras" you burned beyond basal metabolic rate.- Sleep tracking seems off. I consistently rate highly, even if I didn't get a great night's sleep. I feel Fitbit gave me a better rank that was closer to how I felt when I woke up. I realized it's all just an estimate, so I'm adjusting to the new ratings.- Exercise types. While I appreciate there are a lot, they're not necessarily the ones I want to track. For example, I do a lot of yard work and would like to track that, but instead I get the option to track chess. Yeah, not quite my idea of exercise.- Google Fit integration. Because I track my weight, I use Google Fit to try to bring all my stats together. It's not perfect, but it gives me something. I track on an Eufy scale, and that isn't on Amazfit/Zepp. The Zepp exercise types also don't always transfer correctly into Google Fit.- Battery life is shorter than expected. I seem to use about 20% of the battery each day, which is a lot more than I thought it would be. I charge when I'm in the shower, which works OK-ish.Overall, the transfer has been a little bumpy. I'll stick with it for a year or two because I want to move away from Fitbit. I may consider a different Amazfit product if I can find one that's not too chunky on my smaller wrist.Oh, and I bought some bands to use because I don't love the closure on the Amazfit.I'm still getting used to it, but a new tracker is definitely helping to nudge me to get more fitness in each day, which is one of the main reasons I got it.

This fitness tracker is easy to use and has many options for tracking activity. I use the GPS tracking for walking/hiking, riding my bicycle, and doing step aerobics. The one drawback is that it does not have an option for pickleball or tennis, both popular sports. It will track my heart rate when I play but it's not specific for that activity. Also, I'm not totally sold on the accuracy of the sleep monitoring, but it does provide some feedback that I've found useful. (It says I had a good night's sleep when I don't necessarily wake up feeling refreshed). It seems to be accurate for counting how many steps I take. I like that you can customize the watch face (I just found this out! Still discovering new things with this device). It can track your heart rate and oxygen saturation but not blood pressure. I find the PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) useful - it gives updated information on how much you exercise in a week. It's an easy-to-understand activity tracking metric that can help you manage your health. You can google PAI Amazfit for more information. As a Senior citizen pushing 70, I appreciate a device that has plenty of options, but not so many that I get overwhelmed.

Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2022
I've been using it 24/7 for nearly a month now and, overall, I'm happy with it considering the low price.

    - Fairly accurate for steps, heartbeat, and tracking distance. Comes within 5% or so of what I get measuring them other ways, though sometimes it does miss steps. Slightly more accurate than my old Fitbit.

    - Sleep tracking is decent, but maybe one day in ten or so misses when I fall asleep by up to a couple hours and thinks I fell asleep at 1 or 2am when I actually fell asleep at 10:30 or 11pm.

    - Display is nice. Bright enough to see easily in all but the most direct sunlight, and can even still be read then, just not as easily. Pretty good range of brightness, though I wish it could go just a bit dimmer for at night. Being able to schedule when lift-to-view is on vs tap-to-view is great, so I can lift-to-view during the day and it's disabled for at night. I wish you could schedule screen brightness the same way, as I have it at about 75% brightness during the day then have to manually turn it to minimum at night and back up in the morning.

    - Touch sensitivity is pretty good overall. Very little delay or lag and it almost never misses a swipe. Controls are intuitive. Biggest issue is that due to the small screen size and my big fingers, it does sometimes confuse a left swipe and a down swipe, but that's a minor nuisance at best. Another big drawback is that water droplets register as touches. So spray from taking it in the shower makes it think someone is swiping all over it. Locking the screen doesn't help, as it's a simple swipe-up-to-unlock and the random droplets do that within seconds. So I take it off for showers and problem solved.

    - The included watchfaces make for a decent selection, but I do wish there were a few more practical choices with high information density and simple designs rather than the more gaudy showy faces. You can make your own, but it's quite a chore using the Zepp Watch Face Maker, as nearly *everything* needs to be a separate image file, including each individual letter, number, decimal, etc.

    - Battery is good. I lose around 10%/day with the sensors turned up slightly higher than recommended, and charge it around once a week (by which time it rarely goes below 50%). The magnetic charging cable is nice, if a bit short, compared to the "docking" style chargers that Fitbit usually uses. In the last 20 minutes since I sat down, it's charged from 58% to 91%... pretty good.

    - Not a huge fan of the rubber watch band. It's mildly uncomfortable to wear tight and a tiny bit hard to put on and adjust. I figured I'd give it a month or two before seeing if there's any cloth bands that might be more comfortable. I have had it come loose at some inconvenient times after being caught on something, but the style of the band does prevent it from falling straight off like my old Fitbit would, which is rather nice. But, considering the price, it is a decent band.

    - The Android phone app is decent, but confusing the navigate. I had a little trouble getting it working at first, but after restarting both the phone and the watch once they were paired, I haven't had any issues since. It's pretty responsive other than the built-in Help pages, which refuse to load. It offers pretty good detailed charts and stats and good customization for the watch... it's just difficult to remember where to find what sometimes.

    - Alexa was slightly confusing to set up (but worked a lot better after restarting the watch and no problems since) and doesn't always listen even when it says Listening, but overall works well and is usually responsive. One downside I've found is that you can only have three reminders active at once on it, which is a feature I use Alexa for heavily. So best to only use it for short-term reminders so you don't clog that limited queue. But other general Alexa features work pretty well.

    - Text alerts are pretty nice and easy to read in spite of the limited screen size. The watch doesn't always know when a message has already been read on the phone though and will alert on it again, but that's quite rare.

In the end, I had considered several more expensive smartwatches, but I'm glad I went with this one since I mostly just wanted something for casual fitness and health monitoring. Not everything works perfectly, but weighing quality against price, I'd consider it an excellent value.

I’ve been using this watch every day for the past month. I use it primarily for weight lifting and walking/step measuring. The amount of features and the quality of the features on this watch are incredible for only $40.

    - Working Out
The workout mode is extremely helpful for seeing how hard you’re working and how many calories you’re burning. The data/information only gets more accurate as time goes on, because it gathers more info on your workouts. You can set goals and see all the workout information in a recap when you finish. There are many different types of workouts that the watch is able to track!

    -Health Monitoring
I didn’t think I would use the many health monitoring features when I first got the watch; but after using it every day for a month I found that I use these features almost regularly. The sleep monitoring is very accurate and gives you tips on how to get better quality and longer sleep. The heart rate monitoring is very accurate. I’ve compared it directly with other devices and it’s only ever been off by a few BPM.

    -Durability/Form Factor
The original watch strap is sleek and comfortable. The only downside I would say is that it can unclip easily with the clasping system it uses. However so far it hasn't come off during a workout or sleep. The watch itself isn’t too big which was a concern for me when buying one. I was afraid it would be too big and look stupid on my wrist. However it is really good looking and I barely notice it’s their anymore.

    - Zepp App
The mobile app used for this watch is called Zepp. I use it in my Apple iPhone and it’s a really intuitive app. You get to see all your health and exercise information in an easy to read format and you can input personal information and further customize the watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars great watch and a lot of info from it. The price is right. Don't buy Fitbit

I bought a Fitbit Charge 5 in last Xmas and use it for several months. Not only the Charge 5 is expensive to buy and gave a very little info. Fitbit want more than $100 a year if you want more info. I got disappoint with Fitbit and got myself a Amazfit Band 7. I was very happy with it. The reading is accurate especially the blood oxygen and pulse rate. It can also monitor your oxygen level and pulse rate continuously for 24 hours. It came with 6 watch face you don't have to pay and it is more than enough for me. The app is easy to install even for a seniors. It gives me more info than I needed. If you want a watch to keep track of your health and workout and stress, this is the one. It is well made. the wrist strap is not the best. I bought a metal wrist trap to replace it. One thing it does not do is to do ECG like the Fitbit. So, don't expect it will warn you for irregular heart beats.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great device, good value, but don't shower with it unless you like changing settings all the time.
Reviewed in Canada on September 14, 2023
I like this device and am glad I bought this rather than the more expensive FitBit.

Pros: Counts steps reliably, and the display is vivid. It has nice reminder features. Battery life is great. Waterproof. It doesn't waste power on the display unless you tap it. It has lots of features, and looks quite smart.

Cons: The "lock" facility doesn't work well - rain or showering will just unlock it and change screens/settings which is annoying. About once every week or two the band will release itself (once whilst swimming in the pool). It doesn't stay lit up very long after tapping the screen. It doesn't seem to detect that I am asleep for a couple of hours.

Pros outweigh the Cons for me, although I wish they would do a firmware upgrade to make unlocking less trivial - just so the water of the shower doesn't get interpreted as me tapping/changing things.
