Does the machine require a subscription?

No, the machine does not require a subscription. Design Space is free for everyone and offers basic fonts and images you can use to create and customize projects. We do offer Cricut Access subscription for even more fonts, images & design features.

Will I be able to learn how to use it?

Yes! Our education platform, Cricut Learn, has free on-demand courses, live workshops, and beginner cheatsheets to help you learn how to use (and love) your cutting machine. We recommend starting with the Introduction to Cricut Joy course.

    It has its issues but is handy. Get ready for a learning curve, lots of videos online, fb groups, etc. Just My opinion, get a bigger sized vinyl cutter. I got mine on a good sale but if I had to do over again, I would definitely but a full size one. Small and detailed cuts seem to be an issue.

    I like to craft and this has been a huge game change for me. I've made personalized wall decorations, binder covers, clothes, cards, and more. The cricut app has some free things, but most of the patterns you need to pay separately for. However, it's pretty easy to design your own things either in the app, or in a separate drawing program and then download your file into the cricut app, and both of these processes are free to use. This is perfect for people who want to design and create their own things.

    There is definately a learning curve for this machine if you have no Cricut experience. After watching a few YouTube videos, and a little trial and some error, I can now produce some cute little items. I feel like there is still a ton to learn. If you are buying this, do yourself a favor and also purchase transfer tape (so much easier!) and maybe the 12" pads. It also does NOT interface with a Chromebook, so research which tablets it works best with if you are like me and don't see little details on a phone screen real well. I can't seem to find a way to create something with my computer app, save it to my stuff and then print it from my phone. Not sure why it doesn't do that, since I have an account. Oh! Speaking of that, you will need to set up an account to and that will run you about $100 annually (surprise!). I did not know that when I ordered. Anyway, it is a fun way to get started with the Cricut culture--have fun, get designing and then you can say, "I created it on my Cricut," too.

    The product is great but it doesn't come with many fonts and some are too delicate for vinyl at small sizes and it doesn't tell you.

    The ability to print and cut on write on vinyl is great but it only comes with one pen and a tiny piece of practice vinyl. Crocut's vinyl is fine but their transfer tape is garbage. The regular is too weak to lift it off the backing and the strong is like duct tape and won't transfer.
