Many of our links on GottaDeal.com use affiliate redirects to get you to the deal you are looking for. On some occasions, your computer's configuration may cause problems with the links we use.
As a good way of testing, here are 3 commonly used links on our site. These are working links that should be displayed properly when you click on them. If they do not work for you, please continue reading:
If these links do not work properly (you get the "Cannot Find Server" or "This page cannot be displayed" errors), try reconfiguring or disabling any ad blocker, pop-up blocker, or security software you may be running on your computer and try again. In rare occasions, these programs may be blocking these domains because they mistake them for banner ads.
Another main source of link problems is your hosts file. Your hosts file contains addresses which your computer should replace or block when you try to access them. Your host file is located in different places depending on which operating system you are using, but you can just do a search for "hosts" and it should come up. Open this file and examine it's contents. A good hosts file that has not been changed should look like this:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
# For example:
# 22.214.171.124 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 126.96.36.199 x.acme.com # x client host
So if your hosts file does not correspond to the file above, you can either copy and paste the above into your file, or try editing your existing file by deleting any line that contains the following entries:
Banner ads do not originate from these server addresses. These are affiliate gateways to the online retailers which allow coupons and discounts to load, and allow you to help support our website.
Many other applications also could cause problem including ad-blocking utilities, security programs and more. If you are still having problems with a link after trying the steps above and disabling any ad-blockers, please contact us and we will try to help you. We also have a replacement hosts file which blocks many advertisements (thousands of addresses) but does not interfere with the links on this site. If you would like a copy of that file, please let us know and we will be happy to send it to you.
