4 of 5 Good Printer - But Not a World-Beater Wednesday, December 24, 2008 David from Yukon, OK
I've had good luck with it thus far. I've discovered I'm not a big fan of the gravity feed paper source. Unless you put a new piece of paper in everytime you want to print, over time the paper sags and curls. Plus, to duplex, you've got to stand up to put the just printed paper back in the back of the machine. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Nice but not very reliable Sunday, September 28, 2008 A Customer from Houston, TX
Bought this in November 2007 and rarely used at home. Now the copy function is dead. To get around that I have to scan and print. At least those still work but when the ink runs out I plan to get a different brand. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So far so good Monday, August 11, 2008 A Customer from Henderson, Nevada
It is a very good copier as well as printer. The printed copy looks sharp, clean and professional. It is easy to use. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very easy to use! Saturday, August 09, 2008 Jan from Huntsville, AL
I like this printer! I recommended it already to a friend who bought it, also! The only complaint I have with it is it is a little large in size, but I can live with that. It is very easy to use, makes beautiful pictures, and copies in just seconds! So far I'm very happy with it! Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Paper jam problem! Monday, July 28, 2008 Susie from New York, NY
After 10 months of very gentle use, doing everything "by the book", the paper jams on the right side and won't go through the rollers, as per other reviewers. This makes the printer function totally useless.
This happened without any warning; after following the repair instructions in the manual many times, Canon tech support said they would replace the machine.
I am concerned that this is a design defect in the MP470, and I will have the same problem with the replacement. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice Printer Saturday, June 14, 2008 A Customer from Davenport, Iowa
I'm pretty satisfied with this printer. Only complaint is that it sometimes folds the upper left corner of the paper when loading. Overall I'm satisfied with the unit. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Overall a very good product Saturday, June 07, 2008 A Customer from CA
I have had this product for a couple of weeks. It is a good printer/scanner but is noisy. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 WORKED ONLY FOR 3-4 MONTHS, Monday, May 26, 2008 A Customer from NY
In the beginning it was fine, but it just died...the paper no longer goes in, therefore, can't print, which means no longer useful. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great printer Thursday, May 15, 2008 bumbye from lake Havasu City, AZ.
Nce quality printer for the very low price. Easy to set up. This was my first experience with Canon Unbielable response from them on the most minor question. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Multi-Use Printer is Great Wednesday, May 14, 2008 A Customer from Detroit, Michigan
I like this printer very much. For the money, it's a very nice piece of hardware. I can't comment on the durability, since it's only been running for two weeks, but it seems to run fine. Setup was easy, once I figured out where everything was. Not having a USB cable bundled in is a pain, but that's the only real hurdle to get over. Scanning works well. Printing is slow when machine isn't warmed up, however; but things improve quickly after that. The vertical blank paper feed is a space-saver, but curls the paper and looks messy. But all these are minor complaints. Buy this machine! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good so far Wednesday, May 14, 2008 A Customer from Weston, CT
I have only used this for a few weeks, but it was easy to set up, looks very nice and has performed to my expectations and as advertised. Thus far all is good, nothing negative to report. Was this review helpful?

I did my research and read all of the great reviews for this printer. Mine printed one sheet of paper properly and then it stopped feeding paper (always jamming on right side). This problem is not discussed in the manual so now I am having to deal with factory support. Was this review helpful?

Purchased this printer expecting to "get what I paid for", but I never expected that the printer wouldn't last long enough to make it through a single ream of paper before failing.
The print quality is really great for the money, but I am now on my second MP470. The first one failed after about 1 month complaining of a paper jam even though no paper could be found anywhere in it. Canon Support was very good about quickly sending a replacement, which I have now had for about 2 weeks. It is now failing in the same way - "Paper Jam". I have tested the printer on another computer and even without a computer connected and it still fails. Simply turning it on displays a Paper Jam warning. I have completely disassembled this printer and no paper jam can be found.
This is likely a design flaw. I guess I'll be contacting Canon again.... Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great printer/scanner/copier for the money.... Monday, April 07, 2008 Brian from Rochester Hills, MI
I got this bad boy for $68 delivered to my door, and I could not be happier. The printer takes a while to spit out images, but the results are nice. The scanner is very cool, along with the software that comes with it. It scans in color images and the text is very clear. The copy function works great as well. Great product for the price I paid.
Only negative is the printer is kind of big, so will occupy some desk space. Worth the trouble, however. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 An Excellent Printer for a Low Price Monday, April 07, 2008 A Customer from Ashland, MT
The Canon MP 470 printer is an excellent unit. It is a multi-function device with the ability to print, scan and copy. It reads camera memory cards and can read directly from properly equipped cameras. I use the printer primarily to print photos from my computer, which it does very nicely, and fast, too. The unit was easy to set up, Canon does a nice job with the setup software, I am using Windows XP Media edition, and the setup took about 15 minutes. The quick start instructions quickly guided me through the process. One caveat, no USB cable comes with this printer, so be sure to have one on hand. After setting up, I decided to try to print a photo. I went in to the properties for the printer, and was able to easily set it to print for the photo paper I was using. The photo printed quickly. I later dived into the properties to examine the options and soon found some enhancements that improved the picture quality. The inks used by Canon give the prints a warm cast, I don't know yet how expensive replacement inks will be. The printer uses 2 cartridges, a black and 3 colored color cartridge (#40 & 41). For the $68 I paid for this printer, it is a great bargain at an excellent price! I am very well satisfied with it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Printer Sunday, April 06, 2008 A Customer from Sterling Heights, MI
Buy.com delivered it on time. The printer is very good. I just printed documents mostly and the quality is excellent. I haven't tried printing photos yet. I would recommend it to someone who wants a home printer. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 very pleased Tuesday, March 11, 2008 Jim from Columbus,OH
purchased feb 2008. Photo printing is very good text is just as good. But after printing only 12-15 photos the color ink is half gone to me that is to much. The scanning is easy to use the program does everything for you. Over all I'm very happy with this purchase. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Pretty Good Monday, March 03, 2008 A Customer from 78705
So far, everything seems good. It's easy to set up and easy to use. The print quality is good. Spooling takes a little longer than I would like, but once it starts to print, it goes quickly. Was this review helpful?

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Great multifunction printer Sunday, February 10, 2008 Gerry Michel from Pittsburgh, PA.
Actually...all I was interested in was a "basic" printer for home use. ConsumerSearch.com rated it the "Best budget multifunction printer" and Buy.com had the best price...so it was a no-brainer.
It was quite easy to set up (I'm somewhat PC-challenged) and seems to work great in the little printing, copying and scanning I've done in the week I've used it. Was this review helpful?
