Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router
Start a Wireless Network With Up To 3X the Range and 9X the Speed!
The Wireless-N Home Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.
The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology: Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 3 times farther than standard Wireless-G.
With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 9 times as fast as standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the "good neighbor" mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band.
To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.
The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Home Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at incredible speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires!

Wireless-N is the next generation of wireless with advanced radio technology that is fast and boasts coverage area that virtually helps to eliminate dead spots. The level of speed that Wireless-N offers makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, even all at the same time.
The new Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router is Linksys’ answer for consumers who wish to utilize Wireless-N technology and connect multiple devices in their home network at incredible speeds. This is a sign of the many wireless home networks that have come to include various lifestyle and consumer appliances with wireless access. The Linksys Wireless-N Home Router is an affordable solution which provides a higher level of convenience, security and performance to your own home wireless network.
The WRT150N router looks like a standard router having a size of 7.40" x 1.57" x 6.93”. Its black and blue body is the same size as the WRT300N, but it provides only two standard antennae, which are mounted on the rear. Also on the back edge are the standard ports: one WAN port, four LAN ports, a power jack, and a pinhole reset button. The front edge of the router houses labeled indicator lights that correspond to the jacks on the rear.
The Linksys Wireless N router presents Wireless-N access point capabilities. The Access Point uses the latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N’s MIMO (Multiply-In, Multiply-Out) technology for effective data rates. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The Linksys Wireless-N Access Point lets you connect Wireless-N (802.11n), Wireless-G (802.11g) or Wireless-B (802.11b) devices to your wired network so you can add PCs to the network with no cabling hassle. Additionally, it has a 4-port full-duplex 10/100 switch and a router which ties it all together and lets users’ whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. This router is designed to deliver more speed and range without the high costs of new technology. It is a reliable choice for home and office users.
Furthermore, the Linksys Wireless-N router can encode all wireless transmissions with 128-bit encryption technology which helps to protect data and privacy. Setup and configuration is quick and simple with the web browser-based configuration utility. It can also serve as a user network’s DHCP Server. It also has a powerful SPI firewall to help protect user PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports Virtual Private Network (VPN) pass-through.
Setting up the WRT150N router is simple, and Linksys makes the process transparent. The setup wizard walks you through all the steps, starting with disconnecting your PC from your modem. Once you've installed the router, you can configure your wireless network using the router's Web-based configuration tool. The WRT150N includes all the latest security features including 256-bit encryption; WEP, WPA-PSK, and WPA-PSK2 security protocols; SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) and NAT (Network Address Translation) firewalls; and VPN pass-through.
The Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router makes setup easy for newbies, boasts great throughput and wide coverage and offers the latest security features at an affordable price for an 11N router.
Sent it back, DOA. Could not log into router when connected directly to it. Never worked and now, I can only get an exchange. This is the second Linksys router that I have owned and they are junk, IMO. The other one never worked right either, even though everyone says they are the best. Hmmm.

Just sent the SECOND one back for non performance. First one lasted about a week; never got speed above 130, was down to 1Mbs at the end with limited signal. Second one arrived DOA. I would recommend you look at the Dlink 615 for $40 NEW. Cisco ought to be ashamed for putting out such a low quality product

easy setup. I was up and running in the RAID1 configuration in about 15-20 minutes (formatting 2TB took a while).
Like others, the software on the CD didnt work for me. it took 2 min to find them on the d-link website and download, so no big deal.
The unit feels pretty solid and looks sharp. Its smaller than I expected. The SATA drives slide in and snap into place **VERY EASILY**. The SATA bays are pretty slick.
I've only had the unit for a few days now, but I am very satisfied so far. For a total of $300, I have a 1TB RAID1 backup device accessible anywhere on my network. You cannot beat that.

I bought this router specifically to flash with DD-WRT and to upgrade to wireless N. I never installed the Linksys software, I immediately flashed it out of the box to DD-WRT. Very stable with no dropped connections. With the flashed firmware and the N capability, I feel like I have a wireless router comparable with any $500+ router out there. Read about DD-WRT, buy this router and flash it when it arrives. You'll be so happy you did.
