Features

Huge memory: 256MB of internal flash memory gives you up to 8,660 minutes of uninterrupted recording time in LP mode, which means you won’t miss a word of even the longest lectures. The easy-to-use thumbpad makes for quick and convenient operation.

PC link: Connect easily to almost any PC to edit, email and archive your files.

Four recording modes: Choose the mode that best meets your needs—XHQ for extra high quality, HG for high quality, along with SP and LP for extended recording. Slow and fast playback modes let you listen to audio 25 percent slower or 50 percent faster than real time.

Simple navigation: Manage and store all of your audio files in four folders for easy organization and retrieval. Each of the four folders store up to 100 files.

Timer: Set up a specific period to record by setting the beginning and end times. Use the simple index marking function to mark a specific point during recording or playback for quick location.

Voice activation: Extends recording time by recording only when the microphone senses sound.

Index marking: Place an index mark at any point during recording or playback to quickly locate passages of interest.

This is the best recording unit ever made. The sound quality is crystal clear, and the ability to burn CD's allows for easy transcription and permanent record keeping. The batteries last a long time, and the storage capacity is great (it stored 1 1/2 full days' meetings). The only downside: it's not (apparently) Mac friendly. Too bad.

I will admit that this compact little recorder picks up even the slightest sounds through closed doors in a three story house but, if you happen to have Windows Vista-64 bit on your PC, forget using it. There is no driver to download (unavailable from Olympus) your recordings whatsoever. I've had to record to my digital camera @ 30 second increments and transfer files that way. I was assured by the salemen @ Circuit City that this was compatible w/my PC. Do your research before you buy!

I bought this because I needed a DVR for recording interview for several papers. I had hunted high and low for about two weeks for one and read every review possible. I chose this because the reviews were great and the price was even better. The product weighs very little, easy to navigate, you can listen to the recording out loud or with headphones, and I find that the uploading to your computer is super easy and the software is so basic it's also very easy. I think this is a great product and if fo ranyreason i lost or broke it, i 100% would buy another one and i HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for high quality at a low price. Sound quality is also excellent compared to other models I've used.
