This is by far one of the better portable DVD players currently on the market. I use the player daily, during my bus commute to work. Below are the pros and cons that I have noted and were best suited for my needs. Summary: if you are in the market for ahigh quality, portable DVD player with excellent picture resolution and battery life, then the Sony DVP-FX820 is hard to beat.

Pros:
Itâ€s a SONY, comes with the expected high quality and workmanship of the brand name
1 year manufactureâ€s warranty
800 x480 screen resolution – Incredible picture. Other portable players are much lower
Excellent picture stability. I watch movies during the bus commute to work. Even with the bumpy roads the player has never skipped.
Long battery life. I have averaged just a little over 3 hours between charges.
180 degree screen swivel
2 audio output jacks, allowing 2 people to listen to the sound at the same time
Video and Audio output jacks
Recognizes DVD +/- R, MP3 and all CD formats
Power cord adapter for the car isincluded
User friendly display, indicates movie time remaining and battery strength

Cons:
Pricey. Higher cost compared to other DVD players in the same category
External sound was average as compared to other players. However, using ear plugs the sound is excellent and vibrant
Does not come with a carry sling or case that enables hanging the player on the back of a car seat. Most other players include this.
8 inch screen only. Some other players offer 10 inch screens
Must use the remote for fast forwardand fast reverse and to navigate to the Movie menu. However, this is normally how all portable DVD players operate.

This Player comes with everything you need to have a fantastic time while on the go. We specifically bought this player because of the battery life . We had planned to bring this camping , so the kids can have something to watch from time to time. I usedthis at the bedtime of our 2 and 3 year old grandchildren. I set it up in the tent, and they laid in their sleeping bags and fell asleep to whatever program was on. I'd recommend this to my friends too.

We bought this player for it's long battery life in preparation for a cross country plane trip. It worked beautifully.

We used it maybe 4 or 5 times in my car and it was great as well.

NOW.... 3 months later... I tried to use it and it will not playat all! The disc spins inside but it never starts to play the movie!

We have been very careful with it every time we use it.... I have NO idea why it would quit working so soon!

I am going to call the store where I purchased it and 'hope' to exchangeit! Wish me luck!
