4 of 5 Quality USB drive from Sandisk Thursday, August 07, 2008 Mike from Richmond, Va
Price from buy.com was fantastic on for a 8 GB USB drive. The ability to transfer large video files makes this device a must have. The capless USB is nice (no more missing caps).
The only knock I have is the data transfer speed. I have another USB device that transfer at 12MB/sec+. The Sandisk speed is around 8 MB/sec on my system, but it is in line with other Sandisk USBs I have purchased earlier. When transferring 8GB of data the extra speed would have been nice.
The post earlier about only 7.47 GB available is due to manufacturers using decimal gigabytes while your PC displays binary Gigabytes. Divide 8,000,000,000 by (1024^3) & you will see the same results. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Not bad Thursday, August 07, 2008 A Customer from Richmond Va
I have had two or three of these SanDisk and have been happy with all of them. My hardest decision regarding it is whether or not to use the U3. I have found it useful on the other drives. But this time I am thinking I won't. I still have my 1gb on with Openoffice installed and there is plenty of room for that and any documents I would make with it. So I think I will save this one for the video and audio I carry.
All in all this is a great drive. I have beat the hell out of my others and they still work great. There is no cap to lose (which is always a plus). I will continue to recommend these drive to anyone who will listen. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great flash drive for a great price Thursday, August 07, 2008 A Customer from NE Ohio
Sturdy build. Decent transfer speed, but not the fastest. Having 8gb means a LOT more options than my old 2gb. Best part: retractable USB port means no more misplaced cap! Awesome value when I got it (on sale for under 30 bucks w/ free shipping). Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product Thursday, August 07, 2008 A Customer from Hackensack, NJ
It writes at 8 MB/s and reads at 26-28MB/s which is great. I don't find this specs anywhere. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nothing short of GREAT Thursday, August 07, 2008 NaNo from New Jersey
The SanDisk 8GB Cruzer Micro U3 USB2.0 Flash Drive, is everything you are looking for in your everyday computing needs. I have own a 4 GB cruzer for a over a year, and I absolutely love it, and this one with twice the capacity is just that, twice as good. This will help you take your files from one place to another, and it takes up less space than a pack of gum. It may not be as fancy as other flash drives in the market, but I can assure you that it is far more reliable than anything else you may find. Whether you use a Mac or a Pc your Cruzer will run trouble free across platforms and won't bother you with reformatting issues. This is 100% trouble free, I can assure you. So go on get rid of all those space taking cd-rw's and move on to something more affordable and trusty. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just what I expected and a little more Thursday, August 07, 2008 Hillel from Brooklyn NY
Ease of use and fast setup. works meanwhile on every machine I plugged into. that fact that I can have my defaults, passwords and programs where ever I go is the best.
8gb storage definitely tops that of with a cherry.

5 of 5 A Classic from Sandisk !!! U3 feature rocks!!! Wednesday, August 06, 2008 A Customer from CA
The erosion in prices for Flash memory products has indeed been a blessing from a end consumer perspective. I think the price to quality ratio for the product is simply amazing.
Standout feature: U3 !!! It gives you the option of installing some programs on your stick and then just plug into any pc & you use that program !!!! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great deal, works fine Tuesday, August 05, 2008 Robert from Las Vegas, NV
Works exactly as expected, couldn't ask for more storage for the money. Has a keychain ring attached, which makes it even more useful. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 good bang for your buck Tuesday, August 05, 2008 cssthatsme from St. Peters, MO
Had been looking for a usb drive that would hold alot of data but didn't want to have to pay an huge sum of money. I needed to back up files on a older computer before setting up a new one. This was so much easier than having to waste burning a cd. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Sandisk follower Monday, August 04, 2008 Bruce from Minneapolis, MN
I keep upgrading my flash drive whenever the price drops on the next higher limit. Finally, I can backup up ALL my office files and also bring them home. Last drive I had was a Titanium. It was much heavier and not worth the weight. (I never run it over with a car.) I have NEVER had a problem with the USB slide-out. If it doesn't lock when retracted, it's defective, so return it. I prefer it over the cap, which I tend to lose.
I use these drives between a Mac at work and a PC at home with no difficulty. Also, when installed in a PC, it asks if you want to reinstall U3. This time I did and I like it much better. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product, easy to use, and tight fit! Sunday, August 03, 2008 A Customer from Salida, CA
This is a wonderful jump drive. First, I can fit everything I need on it. Second, once you learn how to use it properly (hold the button on the top while inserting it into the computer), it fits tightly and you never have to worry about losing caps again! Third, this is a great price and there are no shipping costs! How can you beat that? I have read the other reveiws and noticed that some have found faster jump drives, but I have not. Also, the small loss of space due to the pre-loaded software can easily be reclaimed if needed, but do it before you start. SanDisk really knows what they are doing! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Product at a Great Price! Saturday, August 02, 2008 A Customer from Jacksonville, FL
Am extremely pleased with the product. Retractable connector avoids lost caps. High capacity handles all portable storage needs for work files. Buying additional drives for family members. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 You can’t Beat Buy.com Saturday, August 02, 2008 dibellad from Highland, NY

5 of 5 Answer to sliding USB issue Friday, August 01, 2008 Scott from Cedar Rapids, IA
For all of those that have reported a problem with the sliding USB connector, try this:
Slide the connector out all the way, then let go of the slide button. You should now notice that it is LOCKED in place. Now hold the Flash Drive by the sides, not touching the button, and insert it into your USB port. Presto, it should work fine now.
I assume that you all have been holding onto the button while trying to insert this drive. That's what I did the very first time I used one of the Titanium drives. It has the sliding mechanism also. After that first time, I figured it out, and have never had a problem since.
I now have two of the Titanium drives, and think they are the best flash drives on the market. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Sandisk Cruzer Micro 8GB USB Drive Friday, August 01, 2008 A Customer from Houston TX
In mid June, I ordered 3 such drives from Buy.com. I ended up receiving only 1 unit, even-though the shipping label said they shipped 3. I immediately emailed customer service. About 2 weeks later, CS finished with their investigation and shipped me the 2 missing units.
Buy.com is my preferred site for all IT items. I like their product pricing, free shipping and very focused customer service.
You will not go wrong to do business with them.
Re: Sandisk drive... this 8GB device is the LOWEST price on the net. It is even $2 cheaper now than my order. It also comes with 128bit encryption and U3 launch software. Great product from a reputable maker.
Good job, Buy.com Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 True value for money Tuesday, July 29, 2008 RKAggarwal@yahoo.com from Metuchen, NJ
It is an excellent piece of flash storage. At 8 GB it is more than enough for anything you might need. I formatted it to NTFS (It comes with FAT32) to fit larger files. I would recommend it to anyone looking for large storage and great price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great deal! Monday, July 28, 2008 A Customer from DE
It's quick, big, and I really like the retractable plug instead of the cap. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good and dependable Sunday, July 27, 2008 Jack from Herndon, VA
The drive is fast and dependable. All in all a great value. It comes with backup software I don't need and I'll delete it if I ever need the additonal space. Some backup files are in system folders do you'll have to make sure "view system files" is selected in Windows Explorer if you want to delete them. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Design flaw! Saturday, July 26, 2008 A Customer from Albuquerque
Works perfectly as a Readyboost device with 4gb remaining for file storage (useless U3 software removed). Unlike some other flash drives I have, this SanDisk LED is always on. I would prefer it be off when not in use. As always, Buy.com provided an excellent product at a great price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great for the price Friday, July 25, 2008 george.torok@gmail.com from Montreal (Canada)
Buy.com does it again. Super bargain and free shipping! This is my second SanDisk 8GB Cruzer Micro and the last one cost me twice as much even though it was on sale at Best Buy. I just wish SanDisk would supply a Mac version of the "U3" software remover. It can be removed using Sandisk's instructions or just plug into a PC - it only takes a few seconds. My PC user friends don't care for the U3 either. Once I reformat it to Mac OS Extended, it is much faster than "FAT32". Keep it on FAT32 if you want to swap files with a PC. Just waiting for a 16GB to go on sale..... Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Product + GREAT Price = VERY Happy Custo Friday, July 25, 2008 Ron from Greeneville, TN
I can't really say much more than the headline. SanDisk is an excellent manufacturer and I have never experienced a problem with any of their products. I especially like the sliding cover design that eliminates the necessity for a cap. I cannot keep track of them and have lost the cap for every drive I own. How Buy.com manages to sell an 8GB thumb drive for less than what others charge for 2GB escapes me! The fact is that they do and that they then top it off with free shipping! Bargains like this ensure that I will always check Buy.com first when I go shopping. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Best for the Price Thursday, July 24, 2008 A Customer from Savannah, GA
Buy.com had best price on the Net for this 8 GB USB flash drive. However, included U3 software is useless and intrusive for most people. I had to reformat the drive 3 times to produce a "normal" flash drive that worked without problems, but all is good now. I give it 4 stars for performance because it is not the fastest (faster than many, though, and fine for Windows Vista ReadyBoost). Would prefer metal case, but this one is rugged enough for most people. Was this review helpful?

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Good USB thumbdrive for low price Thursday, July 24, 2008 brandon from chicago
I got this for a low price and I found that the slide button of the drive that allows you to push out the usb connector does not lock tightly when you plug it into a computer. I would have to hold my finger against the slide button to put pressure on the drive so that the drive connector would not slide back into the drive. I found that the 8 GB drive actually contain 7.47GB; almost 600MB of free space lost (what kind of programs does the manufacturer need of this much space taken from us for use?)!

5 of 5 Readyboost compatible Tuesday, July 22, 2008 al from Baltimore MD
Works with Windows Vista Readyboost function. As a result some speedup in the loading of programs and shutdown function were noted.
8 gig is a sweet spot for using it for data storage and as a Readyboost drive.
A nice touch on the retracting tip: no more covers to lose. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Can't beat the price, but . . . Tuesday, July 22, 2008 A Customer from Geneva, IL
Poor design really lowers the rating on this product. Several times the drive has become loose in the USB port. I believe it's the slider design that's the culprit. Go with a conventional drive that has a cap and solidly plugs in to the port. The slider drives me nuts, it doesn't lock so I don't know if it's making the connection. However, for $30 it's the lowest priced 8GB on the market. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Outstanding USB drive with U3 and security Monday, July 21, 2008 steve from Owins Mills, MD
Fast, reliable, works in all my computers and all computers I have used it in. Includes security software that works easily and the U3 is nice, especially with more and more software becoming available.
Definite buy recommendation. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Small and Reliable Monday, July 21, 2008 Oscar from Austin, TX
I am very happy with it. I use it to transfer movies over from my computer to my ps3 and to back up several files from my computers and consoles. It works like a charm. My older drive had a problem with a large amount of small files. This one does not. It transfers them fast and doesn't give me any problems. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Value!!! Monday, July 21, 2008 A Satisfied Customer from VA

5 of 5 Highly Recommended!! Monday, July 21, 2008 A Customer from Columbia, SC
This is the second one I've owned. I thought I lost the first one so I bought another, and then found it. It's great because it is smaller than most flash drives and there is no cap to lose since it slides in and out. This is the only flash drive that I would actually put on my key chain (and I do). Easy to use, and very reliable. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love it, Love it~~~ Monday, July 21, 2008 A Customer from CA
It's doing all that I expected it to. 8GB is plenty for my movies and mp3. I can move files between computers without configuring network connections with each other. I mainly use this to move files from my PC to my PS3 which is hooked up to the entertainment system. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A very nice flash drive for the money! Monday, July 21, 2008 Cris from Western MD
I owned the 4gb version first. So, I've had experience with this flash drive and the included software. I really like the capless feature....no more losing caps. The drive is also easy to use, although, I've had some issues with some of the computers on campus recognizing the drive. I think it's due to the U3 technology and the security settings they have. All in all, I've had no other issues with this product. It's durable, has lots of storage space, and is a really good price for what you get. If you don't like the included U3 features, you can disable them...a nice feature, too. I highly recommend it!! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Value On A Good Drive Monday, July 21, 2008 BruceCinader@HotMail.com from Oviedo, Florida
I know a good value when I see it. Even though I had several other drives I could not pass up the 8 Gig size of this one. I already had purchased one just like this before, for much more money, from some where else but I loved it so I jumped at the chance to get 3 more for this low price. I can save every photo I ever took on this thing. My wife uses one to save all her homework for school. I love the case also because there is no cap to loose and I like the light that lets you know when it is in use. I would recomend this drive and have never had a problem with Buy.com. I would recomend this company for any of you |
