1) Battery life only 2 hours (not mentioned on cc web site)
2) With headphones at full volume can barely hear movie (I can only imagine how hard it would be to hear on a plane)
3) Annoying big old separate plug-in battery pack makes it not so compact

3 strikes - you're out!!

A cute unit, but some flaws

The screen quality for this player is great, and I found it pretty easy to use, even without the remote. The remote itself has tiny printing which can be hard to read.

People have complained about low sound volume. Part of the problem is that you can'tget the full volume just using the plastic dial on the player. You have to use the remote to crank up the volume from 11 to 16, and as well as turning the dial up full. It's a nuisance, though, because you have to go through that routine every time youturn on the player. And the volume is only a little better.

The battery life is only about 2 hrs, but I like the fact that the battery detaches, and since the unit runs on 12V (not 9V) I can use my external lithium battery to get a lot longer playing time. The unit is lightweight and attractive, and pretty sturdy.

Overall, it's an cheap and workable beginner unit, but I've seen great great reviews for the Sony DVP-FX820, so I'll probably buy that one for my Dad.

I bought this dvd player on May 8,2008 for my daughter's birthday. A week before our vacation in June it was broke. The pin that plugs in the car adapter and to charge the battery is gone. So we have had it a month and we are sending it back to the company to get it fixed only because circut city will not let me return it and get another one. Beware of this product and just get a different one!!!!!
