I've never had a weather radio before, but I got a good deal on this and the reviews were great, so I decided to give it a try. So far so good. The build quality and features seem decent.
One thing to note about these weather radios is they also provide other alerts, like if you live near a refinery/other hazards, the NOAA now works in association with local agencies to get the alert out. Neat, since I do live near refineries and there are occasional "shelter in place" orders, etc. Was this review helpful?

I have had my Midland weather alert radio for about 3 weeks and I have felt much safer knowing this will alert me even when I'm sleeping. I take this radio with me when I go camping and it is easy to find and enter the code for the area where I will be. I wonder how I ever lived without it. Weather can change so quickly and when you love being outside, you need to be aware of the weather conditions. The warning broadcasts also give you explanations and suggestions on how to prepare for severe weather. This radio is awesome!! Was this review helpful?

Live in Miami Florida and during the summer months we get very nasty thunderstorms, some with 70+ mph wind gusts. This radio is awesome and has alerted me to bad weather I didn't even know was comming. It's also great when you just want to know the weather and you push the button to hear the live weather service radio broadcast. I strongly urge people to buy this radio as it also alerts you to other hazards as well, not just weather. I think they make an excellent gift. Was this review helpful?

I recommend this weather radio, especially for those living in areas where tornadoes and damage weather occur on short notice. I have been using this radio for about a month and it has alerted me to bad weather twice while I was asleep.

I purchased this radio after we had a tornado come through our neighborhood, and I feel much safer knowing that I will know when the storms are coming (especially during the middle of the night when we are sleeping). Was not an expensive model, but just a very basic weather alert radio that "does the job!" Have only had it a few weeks here in the midwest, and it's already proved it's importance and usefulness. A little confusing during the programing setup, but if instructions are followed to the T, you won't have any problems. I purchased two, one as a back-up, just in case. Appears to work very well, I like the ability to select warnings for specific areas. Altho I have only one alert to date it was at 2:30AM and the radio did a good job of waking us to the warning, as I am in Florida I would suspect many additional warnings in the upcomming summer season. The weather forecast feature of this radio works alright, but it is not broadcasting alerts, and it took more than 2 weeks to discover this problem, which is the return time for buy.com. My wife and I wanted something that would warn us of bad weather coming our way during the night. We live out in the country and don't have sirens near by. This has been a great device. Recently ordered the Midland WR-100 Weather Alert All-Hazard Radio and received it in a timely fashion. Easy to set-up and use the radio once you read the enclosed instructions. Takes a few minutes to enter the county-specific "SAME" codes, but all functions are now operating fine. In fact, as I write this the radio's warning tone has just sounded because of severe storms -- in January! Was this review helpful?

The Midland weather radio is an excellent product. I've had one for almost a year now and it has performed flawlessly. It has given us advanced warning for severe storms and tornadoes on numerous occasions, allowing us time to prepare. It's greatest value is at nightime. The alarm is sufficiently loud enough to wake myself and my wife. The only drawback we had was an amber alert that went off at 2 in the morning. I just purchased a second radio (cheaper than last year) for my mother in law. She is in her 60s and needed a little help to get it set up properly, hence the score of 4 on ease of use. She lives over a hundred miles away from us and we wanted to ensure her safety as well. I highly recommend this item for safety and piece of mind, especially in the Midwest. Was this review helpful?

We recently had a tornado in our area that did much damage and killed nine(9) people. A number of our neighbors were alerted by their weather radios. Many of them told me they had Midland radios. I didn't have a radio but after that close call I ordered my own Midland radio. It was very easy to program. It is nice to know that if bad weather comes while we're sleeping we will be awakened and can take action. I sleep much better at night knowing my Midland radio(with it's back-up batteries) is awake. I was surprised at the small price for a radio with so many features. It's such a small price to pay for some peace of mind Was this review helpful?
