5 of 5 Works just as advertised .... Friday, October 10, 2008 christian_sir from Jersey City, NJ
After a while of letting it sit in the box, I finally devoted some time and set up my sling box. If your a computer geek than set up should not be a problem. I had to go to the sling box website to answer a couple setup questions. I ended up buying the wireless connection b/c my router is located near my telephone and it's not near my TV set. That product worked well also.
The reason I purchased slingbox is b/c I have direct TV with the Soccer package. Now if I go on vacation or to a wireless cafe near me, all I have to do is take my laptop and connect. Now if I use my laptop at home the picture is really clear b/c my home network is fast. If I am in the cafe the picture is less clear but still good enough to make out the players and watch the game without any problem. I def. have recommended this product to my friends.... 5 of 5 Great deal Wednesday, September 10, 2008 A Customer from Grand Rapids, Michigan
Works great, a must have for college students who ride the bus using the sling mobile purchased separately. The only draw back is even with a direct connection you don't get a true HD picture. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Should provide software and IR receiver to learn r Tuesday, August 05, 2008 A Customer from New York
Missing buttons on virtual remote makes setup of devices problematic. No easy way to add functionality to virtual remote. Perhaps Echostar should sell Sling Media to Logitech the Harmony Remote owners.
Otherwise, the device itself is easy to set up. The picture scales to bandwidth.

5 of 5 Satisfied US Citizen in Australia Tuesday, June 03, 2008 Anya from Sydney, Australia/Tiverton, RI, USA
After moving to Australia, I found that I was not that impressed with the selection of channels that was available here (especially since baseball season was quickly approaching and, as they should, the sport channels here only played local sports). I decided to look into how I could bring MY TV to my new home. It all became possible with the slingbox. With the help of my mother (I needed her to order another cable box and upgrade the internet connection at their home in RI so that they had a 2GB upload speed), I have now been able to stream the information from the cable box and download it here in Sydney, Australia on my computer - which is in turn connected to my Bravia and I'm able to watch TV as usual (GO RED SOX)! (The set-up was quick & easy for us on both ends, didn't have a problem with firewalls) I'm extremely happy with how quick the stream is (altho we did have to upgrade our internet connection here in Australia as well). The picture quality is obviously better on the small computer screen versus projecting it onto a TV, but it's not so bad that you can't watch it. Very great product for any American living overseas! 5 of 5 Wow. This is a grea product. Monday, April 07, 2008 dthomas42 from Chicago, IL
This does everything that it says it will and is easy to set up. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. I have an wireless cell card from AT&T and the video quality over that is still really good in areas with their high speed network. Over my LAN it's just as good as a being at my tv for the high definition. This really does do everything it says it will. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 great product Tuesday, March 04, 2008 A Customer from Tijeras, NM
So far, I love this product. the set up was not easy due to firewall issues but the help technician "took over" my laptop and handled all the steps needed to get it working. even at home I have a small tv picture going on my laptop while I do my work. I will love it even more when travelling the world being able to watch my satellite channels from home. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 When it works it is great Sunday, February 17, 2008 JasJ from Houston, TX
I am now awaiting my second replacement in 6 months. First one died after a month. The second one died four months later.
When it works it is great. ability to see home cable and DVD from anywhere is fantastic. Even though comcast limits my upstream to 384k, the remote software tunes to the available bandwidth and you recieve a viewable picture and sound. When local in the house it streams at over 6mb for a fantastic picture and sound. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Gret bundle Friday, February 08, 2008 Deci from Renton, WA
A bit hard to figure out the firewall changes to be made in order to make the unit visible on the "extranet" (outside my own internet connection). Otherwise, everything worked great for me. Been in Europe on vacation for 3 weeks and wa watchd all hi-def sports and movies recorded on our DVR, preventing the hard-drive to get full. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product! Wednesday, January 30, 2008 A Customer from Chino, CA
This is a terrific device. We are in Mexico and my husband is able to watch his Lakers and anything else he wants! Set up took a bit of time and we needed a SlingLink to access our wireless router, but overall a great product. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Sling Pro Rocks!!! Thursday, January 24, 2008 arbon76 from Nashua, NH
I always wanted to get the Sling Media device since it came out. But wanted to wait due all of the technology changes. Now they added the HDMI port. That sold me! Plus the great bundle package price of $185.00. I recieved the package opened it up read the small instructions booklets that came with both the Sling Pro and HDMI hook up. After spending 20 minutes making all my connections and uploading the software to my PC. I was up and running locally on my network. I followed the tech support on line for my Buffalo router for port forwarding so I could access the Sling Pro remotley from another network. Everything worked great with no issues. They thought of everything when making this device. Also there is alot of online support for almost any siutation.
Anyways Great product, service and ease of operation!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I reccomend anyone that does alot of traveling get this technology you won't be disappointed. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The Amazing SLINGBOX Thursday, January 24, 2008 Al from Lawrenceville, GA
I installed the SlingBox and the HD Cable Adapter. It was a simple install. I had a set up issue, but the Technical Support Staff worked me through was turned out to be a home network issue. Once I fixed the network, the Sling Box worked perfectly. I control from any PC, and even used my ATT Network card on one PC to checkout whether I could control from "anyplace" in the world, and it worked. After adjusting the video for the Network cards slower speed, I was able to view and control the video outside my home network. Takes a little knowledge of your network to set up, but the Technical Support Staff had the tools and ability to "remote" connect to the pc and help view settings. GREAT Tech Support, GREAT product. THE High Def IS AMAZING! Go for the Sling Box PRO.... Can hardly wait for the Sling Catcher. Look out Cable Box Revenues. Was this review helpful?
