4 of 5 Great Product Tuesday, June 24, 2008 A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
This is my first PDA so it took some getting used to, but now that I know my way around, I love it. It's easy to sync to my laptop and download the specific programs I need for work. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Really good Pocket-PC pda Tuesday, June 10, 2008 Dwight from Mossville, IL
Overall this is a very good pda. Screen requires a harder press than I would like especially with all of the cracked and broken LCD warnings included in the package. It took and couple of softboots to get the WiFi up. In general works great, fast, and many features. I like the SD & CF slots but leaving a card in is tough on battery life. WiFi antenna could be better, needs strong signal to connect and LEAP would be nice at work. Have been a Palm user but having a Mobile 6 improves compatiblity and Built-in WiFI is great, to bad no new Palms. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 HP iPAQ211 ENTERPRISE IS A HIT!!! Saturday, May 24, 2008 A fan from Atlanta, GA
This product is unbelievable! If I could rate it a "10" I'd do it. I didn't want a "smart phone", I wanted a separate PDA. After lots and lots of research, the iPAQ211 kept rising to the top, so the choice was brainless. It was simple to sinc with my PC, d'load address book & calendar. It also allows me to d'load MS Office files from my PC to a CF card use it on the iPAQ or create new ones right there. The screen is wonderful, not only is it really big and easy to read, it can be rotated too. I have always loved HP, but this really seals the deal for me. It has blue tooth, WIFI, it don't get no better than this! Well, actually, I guess it does... I found it for an excellent price on buy.com. So, if you're sitting on the fence, take my advise and buy the HP iPQA211, you won't regret it! Was this review helpful?

I'm writing this in the context of my history of PDA's. First my Palm IIIx (basic), iPAQ 1910 (underpowered, broke down a lot), and finally Dell Axim x50v. Aside from the fact that I had a couple breakdowns in the first year and a half (warranty fixed) and some OS problems, I really liked my AXIM for it's performance, look and feel. Since it looked like the PDA was a thing of the past, I was hoping for continued service. Unfortunately, it died just after my 3 yr. warranty.
I seriously looked at finding an x51v on ebay, but was concerned about spending so much on a defunct model. When I looked around, it seemed that the HP iPAQ 210 (211) was the only credible successor. reviews seemed good, but it was hard to think of paying so much. The idea of "new" with "warranty" seemed worth it.
Although I've only had it a month and can't attest for the longevity of it, I can say I am pleased and impressed... better than the AXIM.
It's bigger than the AXIM, squared rather than rounded. These aren't shirt-pocket devices, but fine for most pants pockets. With my AXIM, I went with the 2200 extra size battery because the 1400 just didn't give enough time. That meant a fat back side. The HP has a 2200 battery built in to the original body, so though it is slightly longer (remember the screen is bigger *worth it*) I get bigger battery without the fat body. In fact my untested impression is that the battery life is better.
The shiny black surface has not succumbed to scratches or smudges. The satin metalic edging is rich and smooth. The back is matte finish, very smooth and rich feeling but shows some hand marks. The buttons are responsive, but flush on the top to resist accidental input. The reset button (though seldom used) is on the right side for quick access (by a righty). I especially like that the "record" button on the left is flush to avoid accidental presses that often happened with the AXIM.
The molded top of the stylus fits cleanly at the top corner, easily retrieved. The dual card-slot is expected with the bonus of the SD being compatible with high density and IO devices.
On the bottom is the headphone and microphone (would rather them on the top) and two power/data connectors. One is a standard USB cable, the other the proprietary connector for simultaneous power and data. The important thing about the latter, compared to the AXIM is that it FITS. With the AXIM I always had trouble making a sure connection. This goes on with a solid click and stays there until released on purpose. Overall, the feel is solid, rich, refined, hi |
